Sep 20, 2012 1:52 PM in response to abyssundergroundby TheLatman,Thanks buddy, I never thought to check latitude. For the simple reason that I always had background updating set to off. Yet after the upgrade its set to on, that would explain (in my case) the warmth and battery drain on my iPad.

Sep 20, 2012 2:03 PM in response to Greg Bastug1by M4Specter,I thought that I would chime in. Im using an iPhone 4 and updated OTA to iOS6 last night when I got home from work. I immediately noticed my battery draining (I could watch it tick 2-3% per minute of use - I was connected to my home wifi). So, I did a hard reset....nothing. Still dropping. Since I use my phone for work, I charged it overnight and left the house. Arriving at my office this morning, I had lost 2% just going to work (wasnt using the phone at all and had no apps running).
So, I decided to let it drain. I snapped a picture when I was at 27% battery:
That was a combination of wifi and 3G service. Doing this prior to the "upgrade" (iOS 5.1), my battery wouldve been 70% or so....huge difference. I hope my iPhone 5 has better luck with iOS6. Im depeleting the battery and fully charging it. Ill report back tomorrow.

Sep 20, 2012 2:10 PM in response to TheLatmanby TheLatman,An update......after nearly 15 minutes usage I'm still at 100% battery, this morning I'd lost 20% in that time scale.

Sep 20, 2012 2:30 PM in response to Greg Bastug1by Vicente Alfonso,Same issue here. I updated my Iphone 4S, and with the mobile in my pocket, after 30 minutes the battery dropped a 15%
When I went to work and back home the battery was in 90%, today is in 25%, 1% per 2 minutes... I don´t understand anything.
And I see that the CPU is in 80% with everything close.

Sep 20, 2012 3:00 PM in response to Greg Bastug1by sr64,Same story as many here. iPhone 4s upgraded to iOS 6 yesterday evening then fully charged overnight.
First noticed something odd when I was tethering my iPad from the phone on the way to work and found that my iPhone battery charge had gone down a lot more than usual and it was feeling really warm. To fill in the detail I was tethering over bluetooth. I do this regulary and there is no doubting that this morning the phone temperature was much higher than normal.
I then stopped turned off personal hotspot (tethering) and carried on as usual with the phone with bluetooth left on as I normally do.
By the end of the working day I would expect to have over 60% charge but today it was at about 30%. On my way home it dropped steadily to 13% where it switched itself off and refused to turn on again.
I've recharged to 75% and restarted and cleared the list of background apps, not that that is likely to make a difference. I then turned off bluetooth and have managed to retain 75% charge for probably over an hour. I just turned bluetooth back on and the charge is now down to 72% within about 30 mins.
However, my wife's 4S has also dropped charge quicker than normal during the day with bluetooth switched off all the time but location services on due to some location aware reminders which have, however, been present for months. So, location services, if it is the problem for her, is a problem because it is causing more drain than normal.

This is directly off apple's website on the tech specs.
Internet use: Up to 6 hours on 3G, up to 9 hours on Wi-Fi
If you have been using a combo you are getting about right. If you went all the way to 0% you would be just over 6 hours which is what it states on the specs.

That is usally the problem but a lot on here want to say they have battery drain before resetting the phone. Sometimes a process gets stuck in updating and usually a reset will fix the problem.

Sep 20, 2012 3:16 PM in response to Greg Bastug1by Martych,My 4s has lost 25% of battery power in an hour. Have disabled all location/Bluetooth and iAds and rebooted after the update.....i viewed 2 web pages and made a 5 minute phone call and sent 4 iMessages, the rest of the time my phone was on standby.....this is not good. Any suggestions as to what else I can do? I can't have a phone that will only last 4 hours between charges

Sep 20, 2012 4:09 PM in response to Greg Bastug1by RickNY,I seem to recall something about iOS 5 where keeping the Location Services option for Privacy....Location Services... System Services... Setting Time Zone, causing an issue for battery life. I had turned this off in iOS 5, but it got re-enabled in iOS6.. I also did a "Reset Settings" about 20 minutes ago, and will see how that goes.
My losses have not been as dramatic as others.. Typically I start out at work with 100% battery and by the time I leave at 5:00, I am at 85-90%.. Today was down to 52%, so we'll see.

Sep 20, 2012 4:48 PM in response to KC7GNMby Smartphonejnkie,Let me ask you this.. How many hours of standby do you have with that 3.5 hrs of usage?
I currently have 3hrs and 20 mins of usage and 9 hours of standby
And I am at 30%.. Does not seem normal to me.. No where near 8 hrs usage.
Hmm... I think there is a problem
