    Ok, here we go again...

A few days ago I wrote about my 4s and how I did a complete restore in order to fix wifi and battery drain.

First everything seemed fine, then not so fine.

Wifi worked but still battery drain.

    Check here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4310494?start=1800

Now a couple of days later both wifi and battery drain seems to be fixed.

Solution: complete reinstall and restore of backup.

thats not the case in my problem. i purchased an iphone 4s in september, the same **** the 5 came out. ever since that day i've had battery drain. i've restored as new, still battery drain. i have even restored as new through DFU and let it sit for 48 hours. It was dead the next time I touched it. I've narrowed it down to Sprint and daemons, the background programs that start as soon as the iphone is turned on. I've also noticed that my cpu on idle is between 30% and 60%. i'm honestly just waiting on a 6.0.1 jailbreak so i can end a lot of those things and see if theres any change. if push comes to shove i'll just sell my phone and get an s3. at least thats gauranteed atleast 12 hours of usage.

My wife's phone is having this issue while mine is not. I narrowed it down to her hotmail account syncing as exchange with push sync.  When I put that account on fetch it is fine.  This is spite the fact she has gmail and her work mail as exchange accounts as well. Only her hotmail causes the problem. DFU and normal restores will not fix it.

My iphone 4S suddenly developed the battery drain problem last week - like it went from 65% to dead within 3 hours, on standby the entire time. I didn't download the latest update until this happened - thinking maybe that was my sign from Apple to finally update my software. Unfortunately, that didn't help the battery problem - though it actually created a couple new ones.

Out of all the posts I'd read with suggestions and steps to fix the battery drain problem, there was only one that I hadn't already tried... One guy with the same problem made a comment about his work email account, which is set up as a Microsoft Exchange account on his iPhone. It turns out that I also have a Microsoft Exchange account on my iPhone... Since I was out of options - as well as battery juice, I threw caution to the wind and deleted that email account... And guess what?! My phone went back to its normal, lengthy battery life within a minute of deleting it. (Hallelujah!) I can live without those emails, but I can not live without my phone!

And the weird part is it only applies to certain exchange servers.  I have my gmail and work mail setup as exchange servers on my phone and there is no issue with battery life.  My wife's phone has the same setup except she also had a hotmail account that is setup as an exchange sync through the to mail exchange server and her battery was getting killed.  I turned off push sync on the hotmail server and boom it is fixed.  Of note you don't have to completely delete you mail accounts just tell them to not push sync but rather use the fetch option. Should be fine or at least it was in her case.  Definitely a iOS 6.0.2 problem though because we have been running the same config for 3 years without issue.  Plus her iPad with iOS 6.0.1 does not have an issue.  Hopefully iOS 6.1 which is rumored for late January will fix it all!

Great info! Thanks for posting this - otherwise, I never would have seen the list of services that unnecessarily tap into my location when I actually enable it.

(I only turn Location on when I'm driving in an unfamiliar area - mainly for the sake of saving battery juice, but also because of the Apple-Google Maps location tracking debacle last year.)

My iphone 4S suddenly developed the battery drain problem last week - like it went from 65% to dead within 3 hours, on standby the entire time. A few days earlier, my mom's iPhone also developed the battery drain symptom... Like it literally started happening on both our phones overnight.

I didn't download the latest update until this happened - thinking maybe that was my sign from Apple to finally update my software. Unfortunately, that didn't help the battery problem - though it actually created a couple new ones. (My mom's phone already had the latest update though...)

Out of all the posts I'd read with suggestions and steps to possibly fix the battery drain problem, there was only one that I hadn't already tried... One guy with the same problem made a comment about his work email account, which is set up as a Microsoft Exchange account on his iPhone. It turns out that I also have a Microsoft Exchange account on my iPhone, and so does my mom...

Since I was out of options - as well as battery juice, I threw caution to the wind and deleted that email account... And guess what?! My phone went back to it's normal, lengthy battery life within a minute of deleting it. (Hallelujah!) I can live without those emails, but I can not live without my phone!

My mom thought this problem was a sign that she just needed to get the new iPhone, and that's excatly what she did the following day! :)

I too have the battery draining problem. Would love to know if apple has a fix for this.

I had this very same problem. I read most of this thread and tried the solution that seemed to get the most positive hits.

    1. Create a backup of your phone on your computer
    2. Restore the phone to factory settings
    3. When the phone is starting up, start up as a backup
    4. Use the backup you just created.

This absolutely solved my problems. I've read that others did this or something similar with failure, but again, it definitely worked for me. I'm on 6.0.1 and my battery life is its normal, fantastic self.

I should also mention that I have all kinds of stuff running. Bluetooth, 4g data, wifi, with 6 email accounts that are syncing. I am definitely using this phone for everything that was intended.

It appears that a lot of different solutions posted here are helping.....not just one solution.  Someone mentioned that perhaps it has to do with whatever provider you're using and what solutions is best for you.  Fortunately for me I found the solution for my phone and have passed it along to several friends with great success.

My provider is Verizon.  If anyone is also with Verizon check out the solution that helped me on page 120.

Why would it be a provider issue only after everyone did the updates? Both our phones were fine before we did updates and I've been with my provider for years, many phones, with no issues.

I have an iPhone 4S since late December and today the battery drained by 10am after charging all night after the phone died.

I have deleted facebook app, followed the steps Incamera sent about the ad tracking and limited WhatsApp notifications.

The usgae and standby times are the exact same - 4hours 57 minutes each which seems to me like there is something running constantly.

    Any advice is appreciated.

This worked for me, particularly after restricting the over-work of the processor on push email and location services etc.

    Great post wkylehoffman.

    Thanks
