Q: iOS 6 iPhone 4s battery drain

Did an OTA update to iOS 6, and my iPhone 4s is draining quite quickly almost a percent every three minutes

Only apps running are Settings, Messages, Phone, and Mail, and Location Servces are on for Google, Maps, Nearby, Reminders, Safari, Siri, weather, and YP Mobile (sames as before the iOS 6 update) All apps are up to date, and restarted the phone twice. On local WiFi, with AT&T cellular service, four bars.

Phone would get warm at times as well.

Maybe it's an anomaly, else, lets see if this post grows...

I've been following this thread for a while because I was having horrible battery life on my iPhone 4 with iOS 6.1. I would get about 18 hours out of it, and then it would die. And that was when I wasn't even using it that much. I tried all the ideas in this thread, and nothing worked.

Then I noticed that when I looked at Settings > General > Usage > Time since last full charge, my "Usage" and "Standby" numbers were identical. This clued me in that something was somehow preventing the phone from sleeping.

I then remembered I was running DataMan Pro to keep an eye on my cellular data use. I quit that app, and *immediately* saw a change. The Standby time was increasing, and the Usage time was not.

Since then, it's been working perfectly for me. Last night, after taking it off the charger at 8am, it still had 48% left around 11pm. Right now, I've got 94% battery. Usage 47 minutes, and Standby 1 hour, 54 minutes.

I know this won't solve the problem for everyone, but I just wanted to say that in my case, it was an app that was causing the issue, and was not the OS itself.

"My iPhone 4 was up to 434 cycles for the battery"

Is there an app to tell that?  I'd particularly like an app that would tell me the mAH charge and capacity (as well as cycle count) as we can see for our Macintoshes:

    Charge Information:

      Charge remaining (mAh):          4649

      Fully charged:          Yes

      Charging:          No

      Full charge capacity (mAh):          4746

      Health Information:

      Cycle count:          231

      Condition:          Normal

      Battery Installed:          Yes

Is there anything in iOS that gives that?  Or, an app that would show it?

It would help in all sorts of ways--knowing condition of battery, fairly representing the battery condition before a sale, etc.

    Guys,

Please take a break. The battery draining problem seems not an all-user problem. Apple has Millions of users around the globe. But only a few are facing this problem. There might be some sorts of hardware problems too for specific batch of iphones manufactured under a lot. The reason I am saying this I am using iphone 4 for over 2 years now without any significant/serious battery problem even after upgrading to ios 6.1.2.

Here is a scrrenshot of usage:

Agreed; we've given the solution to solve most of the people's problems here, yet individuals often find more satisfaction in making misinformed blanket accusations and empty threats than they do from lifting a finger to solve thier own problem.

Unsubscribing from this thread… have fun guys!

Hello everyone. Ive posted on this forum a few times now because my battery life was shocking!

Anyway I put my phone in DFU mode the other night for about an hour. When I turned it back on, I charged it all the way to 100% and left it on charge for about 8 hours after it hit 100%. Since then, my battery life has started to get better. It usually lasted me 6 hours a day but since the DFU mode, it has been lasting between 8-12. I know this obviously isn't good enough but I'm pleased for now because today I didn't have to charge it at all until I went back to bed!

Has Last night done the telephone full charge to batteries! in 5 hours in mode of the waiting charge to batteries 100 percents! I you have advised to do several full cycles of the charge and category to batteries from 0-100%.

    @victorgurtovoy:

    Just a suggestion:

Complete shutdown and re-start of the iphone and then full charge (100%) may help much to save/increase battery life; may try.

Little confused, re-start after complete shutdown? Help fill in the blanks here? How can you re-start after complete shutdown? Shutdown meaning battery is depleted? Re-start after that? But the battery is dead? Not trying to be an *** but I just wanna understand this a little more? Do you have to do this every time you charge your battery?

Apple, fix the firmware so we don't have to put our selfs through this $hit!! My god That Apple logo is starting to look like dog ****!!

    Hi,

I finally found the solution to my battery drain. I sold my 4S and recently I bought a Nexus 4. And I earned 80€ as well.

    Bye bye Apple.

I'm having the same issure, left for work at 8AM with 100%, listened to music for 20 minutes on the way to work gone down to 76%. All apps are closed in the background and looked at my phone at 10AM and my battery is down to 33%.

    This has happened all week.

    What is going on???
