Q: iOS 6 iPhone 4s battery drain

Did an OTA update to iOS 6, and my iPhone 4s is draining quite quickly almost a percent every three minutes

Only apps running are Settings, Messages, Phone, and Mail, and Location Servces are on for Google, Maps, Nearby, Reminders, Safari, Siri, weather, and YP Mobile (sames as before the iOS 6 update) All apps are up to date, and restarted the phone twice. On local WiFi, with AT&T cellular service, four bars.

Phone would get warm at times as well.

Maybe it's an anomaly, else, lets see if this post grows...

    Hi all

Not that anyone reads posts but I am currently working with apple to test battery power on my phone, they are working hard to see if this is an IOS 6 problem or other ...

Patience... It's easy to test a beta version but when u release to public and millions of people there will be problems ( my opinion anyway)

I'm losing 20% per hour without usage first thing in the morning. A lot worse. Beta 2 of iOS6 was a lot better. iOS 6 beta 3 and the GM have sucked.

    Hi,

I have an iPhone 4S that was  perfect working  with perfect battery drain before the update to iOS6.

After update I left all settings like on IOS5.1, but during night with no apps running and  battery goes down to 80-82% in 8 hours with no usage - for IOS5 battery draining during night was around 1-2% - and I charge phone once per 2-3 days, and now on IOS6 I doing it every day.

    Dear All

First I made the uodate to IOS using OTA and using my backup.

Like you I was suffering of battery drain problem. In around 1 hour, 20% of my baterry lost. Incredible.

So I read different post and decide to

Restore mode (DFU) > Using Itunes > Update to ios 6 but as new Iphone. Do not use your itune backup but I would recommend like me to resynchronize the Iphone with your library for retreving Music, App...

After that I made a Battery Full Recharge and I only disabled General >  Cellular > use data cellular Only for FaceTime. I also removed IADS Location but all services are activated and running properly.

Battery is really better now, like before with 5.1.1 (must test more deeply if it's better as before 5.1.1).

Do a update using Itune and set as a new Iphone. this really important I thing to avoid to bring back previous error.

Sorry for my english . I am French ;-) good luck

    Iphone 4s 16GB - white (running now with IOS 6.0 )

Yes, I agree the useage time and the time since charge times are the same or near. Somone else with OK battery (or iOS5) sent me a screenshot and theirs was 2 hrs use, 16hrs standby.

I updated my Iphone 4 with the 6.0 update.  I had all the same problems, battery draining in a few hours and it had been perfect before that.

I followed someones advice on here last night and my phones battery is now back to normal 6.0 and I didn't have to restore or lose any data...

I let the battery drain down to 2% (didn't take long, its been awful since update).  Once at 2% I switched on flight mode.  I played some music for a couple of minutes until it died completely......  Then I kept it swtiched off and charged it all night.  In the morning I switched it on, turned flight mode off then re-booted it (holding the home screen and lock screen together for 10 seconds).

It re-booted and is now back to normal.  That was at 7.30am, its now 1pm and it still has 95%.....

    Happy days!!!

    Hi,

After noticing heavy battery drainage for my iPhone4 after upgrade to iOS 6 and found this post, its confirm my concern.

Hope that Apple fix this soon.

I've heard enough people who don't have issues at all with iOS 6 and the iPhone 4s. I was not one of them though..If you have battery issues and an iPhone 4S on iOS 6 using 'Microsoft Exhange' or 'IMAP' this might be your solution.

My battery was empty in a few hours. I've tried disabling Siri, Bluetooth, Location services, removing Safari cache etc. but it did not have the effect I was hoping for.

Besides the battery I noticed some instability of applications in general and more specifically slow mail syncing. When I was 'roaming' I had no internet and I noticed my battery life was much better. I realized I had not been uinsg my email for a full business day. This made me think it could possibly be related to email.

So I went trying.. first I removed my IMAP account, with not much effect.

Then I disabled Exchanged calendar sync (alone). Which did not help.

Then continuing reading I removed the Exchange account completely... rebooted the iPhone and reconfigured Microsoft Exchange. The battery life seems much better now. It's to early to say if it's even better then with 5.1.1 but as I couldn't downgrade as I can't make a backup I'm quite happy.

So when considering please make sure you've done an attempt to sync your email (so you have a backup of your recent calendar/contact entries etc). Remove the email accounts from the iPhone, reboot, and then define the email accounts again.

I hope this solves this for you not having to go through the hassel of downgrading etc.

Battery usage under iOS 6 completely baffles me.  Some days it's great, some days it's bad, with no usage difference.

Yesterday, after removing my phone from the charger in the morning, it drained 7% to 93% in about 10 minutes of Usage and 20 minutes of Standby.  This morning it's still showing 100% after 15 minutes of usage of Usage and 3 hours of Standby.  I didn't do anything different today that I did yesterday.

That's not exactly a fair comparison as the maximum battery charge for a new phone will be higher than that for a year old phone.

it's not fair, but it shows a 50% reduction, i power cycle my battery once a week so wouldn't expect this kind of drop in effeciency

I did this way and my battery has improved a lot.

Another thing I did was delete the backups in icloud.

After that, I Turn ON facebook integration, photo stream, almost all feature, except 3g data. My battery spend 30% in 25 hours (Standy + Use)
