Oct 3, 2012 6:17 PM in response to alxdcby Headhunter06,Apple is working on it. Like several others in this forum, Apple called me and installed a battery logger profile on my phone to figure out why my battery is draining. So I trust they will have a fix in the future. Admittedly, this does not immediately help those who truly rely on the phone for work or other reasons, but it does show Apple is working in good faith and not ignoring the problem. Anyway, the advice the representative gave me was to use the phone as I would normally use it if there were no battery issue, so that they can best collect data. So I've turned some icloud services back on--especially the very suspect Safari icloud data synching--as well as some location services and even traffic data. Earlier in the week I deleted all of my safari bookmarks in all of my iOS devices and deleted that portion of data from my icloud back up (or so I think, anyway)....wish I had not done that so that the Apple battery logger profile could see if that was a culprit. So I'll see whether my battery drain spikes again--I had it sorta stabilized by using Chrome and minimal services--and hopefully Apple will get some useful data.

Oct 3, 2012 6:22 PM in response to Headhunter06by Walker30000,Me too. I uploaded my logs to Apple. They were great and I have complete faith. But my phone started to take longer to drain just this weekend. Weird.

Oct 3, 2012 6:23 PM in response to Greg Bastug1by Bgrant3406,Fixed it, but not exactly sure how.
Here is what I did:
Backed up my iPhone via cable to iTunes
On iPhone went to Settings->General->Reset->Erase all Content and Settings
Plugged the iPhone back into my Mac and restored the backup
No change, still had battery drain issue
Plugged phone back into my Mac and flushed the phone (reset to factory default and reload iOS)
Since I was doing this at work and there is limited bandwidth for personal stuff, I aborted the download, disconnected the phone from the Mac and started to setup the phone.
I decided to run the phone without all the apps and settings to see if the raw ios had the same issue, note that I'm still running the original iOS 6 upgrade software that had the battery drain issue.
After resetting the phone back to factory default, I was checking the settings and noticed that Bluetooth was enabled, which I thought was odd, so I turned that off. At this point my phone was charged to 100%. I drove home and the battery remained at 100%. When I was having the problem, on the 30 minute drive to work, my Battery would drop 10 to 20% with little to no use.
So this was a good change, not sure if I could have reloaded a backup and it would be fixed, but here are the next steps to get my phone back to normal:
Came home, did a restore to factory default and reload iOS followed by reloading the backup made earlier today, the phone has remained at 100% for the last two and a half hours, previously it would have discharged to 50% in two To three hours.
What would I tell a friend to do to fix this, I would say turn bluetooth on and then off and see if that did it.
If not do the Settings->General->Reset->Erase all Content and Settings, turn off Bluetooth and see if the issue goes away, if it does then reset and reload. If it doesnt then do a full reset to factory default with a reload of ios and reload of a backup, or just wait for apple to fix it.
Hope this helps someone.
Regards
Bruce

Oct 3, 2012 6:25 PM in response to Walker30000by Walker30000,I think they should post something. They are reading these posts carefully. But I guess until they have something concrete, they keep quiet. Probably best, except for those who feel unheard. You are heard, I guarantee that are a lot of serious clues in this forum, so keep them coming.

Oct 3, 2012 6:30 PM in response to Walker30000by CalebM39,I just want Apple to issue something, an apology or just a statement, to let me know they are fully aware just how bad this is, especially with all the people not willing to say they are affected. And to put my mind at ease to for sure know they are working to fix it. I fully trust they are, but it's been two weeks now.

Oct 3, 2012 6:45 PM in response to Greg Bastug1by TechGeekPro,Like most people who posted in this thread, I installed the iOS 6 OTA update the day it was released in an effort to stay on the bleeding edge.
I had no problems updating my iPad (3rd generation) and in fact, I got almost full week of moderate use (1-2 hours per day) off of an 85% charge on it! My iPhone 4S however was a different story. I usually put my phone on the charger overnight but the first night I didn't and it was almost dead by morning. I charged it up to about 80-90% and by lunchtime it almost dead again. I was checking out the new Apple Maps and playing iTunes so it was getting some pretty heavy usage. I charged it up to around 80-90% again and by later that evening it was almost dead. I let the battery completely drain and then charged it up to 100% to make sure that it had a full power cycle. Even after that, my iPhone was discharging at a rate of about 15% even when idle. I did another full battery drain and charge and another one with Airplane Mode on. I've read every post on this thread (up until last Friday) and tried every suggestion short of completely erasing all content and setting and restoring as a new device. Believe me, I tried everything including a few “tricks” posted in threads on other forums as well. I even tried erasing all content and setting and restoring from an iTunes backup all to no avail. Despite every “trick” I tried, the battery was still draining at a rate of at least 10-15% per hour on standby. So, last Friday, I finally bit the bullet, erased all content and setting and restored as a new device. After doing so, I now get well over a day on standby with about 6-8 hours of actual usage off a full charge. All told, it only took me about 2 hours from start to finish, including restoring the majority of my apps from iTunes. The most tedious part was rearranging my icons on my home screen exactly how I wanted them. Since I have Exchange accounts, iTunes Match and iCloud turned on for everything else, the only thing I really lost was my text messages and call history.
So if you’re reading this post and your still trying in vain like I was to “fix” this problem, do yourself a favor and just wipe and restore as new already.

Oct 3, 2012 6:54 PM in response to TechGeekProby TechGeekPro,By the way, I should also mention that easing all content and settings and restoring as new was the ONLY suggestion offered to me by the "Genius" I spoke to at the Apple store.

Oct 3, 2012 7:06 PM in response to Greg Bastug1by razmtaz,Since within hours of upgrading all my devices to ios 6, they are all draining within 2 hours every time fully charged. This includes ipad 2, iphone 4, and two ipods. I disabled all tracking, closed all programs, did a hard reset. Nothing works, they are all still draining much too fast. When I went into General, About, Diagnostics and Usage - it shows several crashes due to low battery have been sent in automatically. Has anyone found anything that works to reduce the drain?

Oct 3, 2012 7:07 PM in response to Greg Bastug1by ChicagoBubba,I emailed the Apple rep my battery profile. I'll probably look at them at some point myself. Right now I'm losing about ~9% an hour in standby mode, in 10 hours my phone will be dead if I don't use it and leave it turned on. With iOS 5.1.1 I don't even think I would lose 10% in a day in standby.

Oct 3, 2012 8:16 PM in response to Greg Bastug1by When Pigs Fly,How do I return to the old operating system?
My phone (iphone 4s) is drained in a couple of hours vrs. lasting all day. Not happy with Apple's updates. The fix today was a long extension cord. About a year ago I "updated" my iPad and lost all my data. No more updates thanks.

Oct 3, 2012 8:59 PM in response to Greg Bastug1by sCary4355,I used my phone for a total of 13 minutes for phone calls today and no internet at all and had to charge my phone 3 times today between 07:00 and 20:52 the last time I went from full battery to half not even using my phone in exactly 1 hours 46 minutes. I use my phone for business and can usually get 4+ hours and use the internet through out the day and have a full battery from 07:00 to 18:00 now I am lucky if I get 4 hours and not even use my phone. I also noticed that when I charged in this evening and the phone rang when I went to pick it up it was very hot yet the phone was sitting up and on a glass surface it seems like some people are also having this issu.
What is going on???

Oct 4, 2012 1:34 AM in response to Greg Bastug1by juanfromb,Perhaps someone has already posted something similar, but here’s my experience:
Spent several days reading this thread and trying every suggestion with no success.
After wiping my iPhone, re-installing IOS 6.0 using iTunes and restoring just the basic configuration (no extra Apps installed), the battery was still draining in just 4-6 hours without activity. I then installed the iPhone Configuration Utility in my PC, plugged the iPhone and went to the console log. Here’s what I saw:
...
Oct 2 09:04:28 CommCenter[62] <Notice>: Client [com.apple.persistentconnection[dataaccessd,84]] is telling PDP context 0 to go active.

….
Some process was awaking every 2 – 3 seconds, keeping the CPU active. After changing almost all the configuration settings while looking the messages, I noticed that switching off Push Mail suddenly stopped such activity (and messages):
The battery drain went back to normal levels after this change. I then restored and installed back all the Apps, contents and settings (except Push Mail) into the phone and tried it for a day with good results. But I wasn’t resigned to stop having every mail, change, event, etc. instantly pushed to my iPhone, so I did a little research, and read somewhere that several users had mail profile issues when upgrading to IOS 6. Back to the iPhone Configuration Utility... Perhaps restoring the previously configured accounts from the backup was the problem, so I erased all the accounts and reconfigured them manually. The results: it works! Activated Push mail again and the previous messages were displayed only once every few minutes. This morning, two hours after a full charge, the battery capacity was still 100%...
Hope this helps someone.
