Did an OTA update to iOS 6, and my iPhone 4s is draining quite quickly almost a percent every three minutes

Only apps running are Settings, Messages, Phone, and Mail, and Location Servces are on for Google, Maps, Nearby, Reminders, Safari, Siri, weather, and YP Mobile (sames as before the iOS 6 update) All apps are up to date, and restarted the phone twice. On local WiFi, with AT&T cellular service, four bars.

Phone would get warm at times as well.

Maybe it's an anomaly, else, lets see if this post grows...

my drainage  is at least as bad as yours. With just the OS processess running (nothing launched or running by me), my processor use is almost 90% while idle (using System Activity Monitor). Set time automatically is set to OFF, photo stream is set to OFF, all location services that I can manage myself are set to OFF. At this rate my battery will be out of juice within hours

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks

Did  you do a reset after the install? knew this thread was gonna start soon. It always does with a new iOS review. Hasn't even been out for 3.5 hours and already folks saying battery is draining.

Thanks for your response. If by reset, you mean shut the phone off and start it up again, then yes, I did that.

No a reset, is when you hold down the home/power button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

What I mean is did you hold the home button and sleep/wake buttons together ignoring the slide to power off message until the phone shuts off. Then wait a few seconds and turn it back on.

Yes I did - battery drained from 96% to 83% in less than an hour with one two minute phone call and screen off most of the time.

iPhone reset is not part of Apple's update instructions - if it were essential, the installation should reset as part of the process.

Okay, I did a reset and I will report back when I get home from work in a few hours. Thanks for the responses and the reset tip, I appreciate your (plural) help

And as an apple user you should know that resetting fixes about 90% of all problems. Any computer device usually a reset will fix it.

I might have dodged this bullet but I did the following after doing a new install and cleared my phone.

    1. Turn off bluetooth (always seems to be on by default).

    2. Turn off notifications for the stock widget.

    3. In Restrictions, go to Location Services>System Services (at very bottom) Turn off Location-Based iAds

    4. Turn brightness down (but not too much that you can't see the screen inside and outside).

    5. Turn off iTunes Match

    6. Turn off Shared Photo Streams

I updated my phone 2 hours and 7 minutes ago.  When the update was finished, my phone's charge was at 100%.  After 127 minutes, I'm down to 76%.  Sad face.

The only time I would have battery drain like this is playing Fieldrunners 2 for 30-40 minutes.  I haven't even touched it today!

Similar here.  I had 76% as of when I finished the download 3 hours and 40 minutes ago, and now my battery is at 40%.

In the intervening time, I had one 3-minute phone call, 2 emails (less than 5 minutes on email), 2 text messages, and phone asleep with screen off the rest of the time.  I turned off all location services except Find My iPhone, and set Spotlight Search to index only email, contacts, and nothing else.

The last 2 steps worked like magic for me when upgrading to iOS 5, but have not helped much if at all with iOS 6.  I just did a hard reset, and will report back in several hours regarding the apparent effect of the reset.

I'm having the same issue.  I seem to be losing a percentage every three minutes or so.  I have Location based iAds turned off as well as Passbook as those were the only two new things on from my 5.1.1 install.  Yes, I've cycled the power and done a hard reset.  No difference.  Hope this is taken care of soon because if not this is going to drain my battery way sooner with less usage.

Update - after a reset (as per above) and a charge to 100%, after 2 hours of idling my battery drain has been 20%, that's 10%/hour of doing nothing but idling. At this rate my battery will be drained in 10 hours. That is of course if I do nothing but let it sit there not being used. I used to be able to get over 24 hours of standby and 5-7 hours of use on a single charge. Now I am going to use it and see what happens

Let your battery drain out till the screen goes black and then fully charge it.
