Q: How do you delete songs in iOS 6 (finger swipe not working)

Just sent feedback. I agree that this needs to change. They need to restore the ability to swipe-to-delete while iTunes Match is activated, as well as show cloud icons for each individual song. The user should be allowed control of local file management.

Things are even worse. Someone commented that iTunes Match now administers the memory itself, deleting the least played songs, etc.

No. It does not.

Yesterday my iPhone had only 150 Mb left. I started to download some albums from my Match account and, when it run out of space it complained that "no memory left on the device". It didn't remove my least played songs nor anything like that. So I removed my full library of downloaded music and started from scratch again.

This is a usability disaster.

By the way, the videos app, for the music videos, still works in the old-fashioned way, with individual iCloud download icons and delete options. Now, move that feature again to iTunes, Apple !

Hi. I know I sound like a stuck record but..

iTunes Match does manage the space IF you 'stream' music to the device, not 'download'.

If you add individual songs to the device by pressing the actual song NOT the cloud icon it is placed in a cache and can be played untill the caches fill up. After that it will replace the least used songs eventually without you needing to do anything.

You can delete all your cached songs by toggling itunes match off/on.

Ok. Clarified. However, I need to download songs most of the time. I only stream while at home but I usually download the albums I want to play in my car, as I can't rely on slow 3G (and traffic limits).

So, after some weeks of downloading and downloading there seem to be no better way to recover some room than deleting all my music. I really miss that individual swipe to delete feature, that worked with songs but also with albums, artists, etc.

Yes it does seem to be horses for courses. It was exactly the having to swipe individual songs/ albums to create space which drove me nuts in ios5.

I use my Mac sync to put music on my iphone, then just 'top up' on the fly by streaming songs I want, but dont have on the phone.

I'm lucky, I like the new way.

This might be already posted here, but it appears iOS 6.1 has fixed this problem.

Using iTunes Match and the current iOS?  You'd be the only one on this thread then.

Not to sound dense, but how exactly did this update correct the issue? I'm still not seeing a swipe to delete option. What am I missing, I could easily be overlooking because I'm at work and I've been scouring forums for a few hours.

if you are running 6.0.1, you won't find the swipe-to-delete method in itunes match. Talk is about 6.1 having it, but we'll have to wait till it comes out to be certain...

I turned off the auto-renew for iTunes Match. I HATE, HATE, HATE, it now that iOS6 screwed it up. We didn't pay for iTunes Match so you can tell us what songs we want to listen to. I want it back like it was in iOS5! I want to delete whatever songs I want, I want to be able to download just one song of an album, and I want to see  a cloud by the songs on my device. You guys are starting to really slip away from good products. Keep this crap up and your stocks will soon follow. I'm a huge Apple fan but, we can only take so much before we go to a competor. FIX IT!!!

Not only is it impossible to delete songs, they even appear as if from nowhere without being intentionally downloaded. So from time to time my phone shows songs from albums I didn't download and while "show all songs" is disabled.
