To everyone with IOS6 Sound related issues & Others

If you are facing a problem of not having any system sounds, notification sounds, no calls or other software sound related issues I'd suggest you read below it's a stupidly simple fix and it should solve most software issues after an immediate iOS6 update:

After updating unplug the phone from your computer and leave the phone alone for 5-10 minutes, if you still have problems: reboot, wait a few minutes and all sound related problems should be fixed.

When I updated to iOS 6 I had lost my system sounds, so I unplugged from the computer, rebooted the phone and still no go. I decided to just let the system "settle in" for a bit, let it lock and when I unlocked after 5-10 minutes sounds were back and everythings up and running again.

I did that and of course the sounds did come back. I updated to iOS 6 at 12:30pm Chicago. Sounds were lost for about 10 minutes they came back. Had notification sounds, keyboard sounds, ect all day. Now just an hour ago I lost them AGAIN. This is 9 hours after the update. Did a reset and that didn't help. Set the phone down for a little while and what do you know my sounds are back. It's obviously some type of bug where my sounds are going in and out.

I updated my iPhone 4S to IOS 6 on the day of the release. The sound wouldn't work, and lost control of volume on music app. I restarted my phone and it didnt fix the problem, later on that night I had sound again. But in the morning when I woke up the sound was messed up again. I tried restoring again in the morning and it did not solve anything. I updated and restored via iTunes. I also missed a call in the morning, it never rang and never even told me I missed a call. This sound is really messed up. Please let me know if anyone finds a more permanent fix, without having to set it up as a new phone. Hopefully Apple fixes this fast!

Well, to break it down. After my sounds finally came back (2nd time losing them) last night I decided to restore the phone in itunes. I did it twice. First time I backed up my data. Second time I restored it as a factory iPhone. Both times guess what NO SOUNDS! I also realized that last night I had lost my sounds after charging my phone and unplugging it from the data cord. I still have ringtones (when someone calls), but text messages, emails, and any other alert tones do not work. I cannot turn the volume up or down with the side buttons and also music does not play. It doesn't even have a slide bar at the bottom.

I am on the phone with apple care now. They seem to not be aware of the problem at all.

While I was on the phone with them my sounds ended up coming back, imagine that. Hopefully every time I charge my phone I am not going to have this issue.

Same problem here. Didn't have sounds this morning or last night after updating. Out of nowhere my sounds starting working again and they worked all day until about 5 minutes ago. I don't have a computer so I haven't plugged my phone into that and I haven't plugged it in to charge...it just started working this morning on its own and then stopped working like I said a few minutes ago...definite mystery...

Weird. My sounds have been working fine. They wont work however if I let the phone completely die like I did earlier just to test and then restart it my sounds and volume controls will be gone once again and then come back within 10-15 minutes. It'll stay back until the phone is rebooted, or shut off regardless of being plugged in to charge or not but everytime the phone is shut off or rebooted the sounds and controls are gone and come back on their own within a few minutes.

I've been trying things all day to get the sound back on my iPhone 4S until I tried this solution I saw somewhere ... and it worked:

1. do not have your phone connected to your computer

2. start iTunes

3. go to Edit/Preferences/Devices and turn on the checkbox "Prevent iPhones, iPods and iPads from syncing automatically" and click OK

4. now plug your phone into the computer.

5. iTunes will recognize the device but it will not sync the device.

now sound works! You can remove the device from the computer.
