Sep 19, 2012 5:44 PM in response to bastiaenby JRG1392,I have the latest version of iTunes for Mac (10.7) and I keep getting error code 3014 when trying to upgrade my new iPad? I've tried redownloading the update file and that didn't help as well as using a completely different computer. Is it possible that Apple's gs.apple.com servers are down, does that have anything to do with this?
Thanks.
Josh

Sep 19, 2012 8:15 PM in response to bastiaenby Ric Getter,I just got hit with this too, with 10.8.2 (today's update). Same problem after repeated attempts to redownload the update. My New iPad was stuck in reset mode, asking to be restored in iTunes. (Essentially bricked.)
From what I've found online, this has happened to others who have tried to download an iOS update on the day of its release when Apple's servers are jammed. After I stopped kicking myself, I found one solution that helped.
- Quit iTunes
- Retrieve a copy of a previous, 5.1 .ipsw file from a backup (iPad3,1_5.1.1_9B206_Restore.ipsw) and put it somewhere convenient. It's located in ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates
- When you are back in iTunes, hold down the Option key while clicking Restore
- Navigate to the older .ipsw file you recovered
- Click Okay
- Follow these forums and wait a few days before trying to download iOS 6 again
iTunes will first restore the firmware, restart the iPad, then restore your settings, restart again, and then restore your software. Step 5 is the longest and you'll see your icons reappear and then be able to watch the little blue progress bars as they reload.
I spent a good half hour Googling and trying solutions. This one is getting me back into acton.
I may be getting bad downloads from Apple. Between failed updates, I removed the new ipsw file (iPad3,1_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipsw) from the Software Updates folder between tries so I could get fresh downloads.

(By the way, I realize that this is an iPhone thread, but this may help.)

Sep 20, 2012 6:59 AM in response to bastiaenby mmf9,I had the same problem.
I had to uninstall Onavo from my iPhone and delete its profile and then I was able to do the recover of the iPhone.
Check if you have this program or another similar that it is redirecting your web traffic.
Hope it helps.

Sep 23, 2012 10:01 AM in response to dstanizzoby iamOttilie,my answer's may not be very helpful but it worked for me. So i downloaded & updated ios6 thru my laptop, My phone was starting to sync when the same error appeared. Bummed, i just had no choice but to click 'restore', an option will ask you if you want to restore it as a new iphone or sync from the last back-up data (so important to sync & back-up everytime). I chose 'sync from last back-up' and amazingly afterwards, i noticed itunes saying my software was up to date. and tadaa-ios6.

Sep 26, 2012 7:58 PM in response to bastiaenby xmasdad97,Had the same problem when tryng to install through connecting to my iMac. It turned out that the solution in my case was to disable SafeEyes, which was apparently preventing iTunes from communicating with the servers to verify my phone. Once I disable SafeEyes, everything worked as advertised. Check to see if you have a firewall or anything similar similar blocking communication with the Apple servers.

Sep 26, 2012 8:04 PM in response to bastiaenby B69B69,I wouldn't recommend downloading iOS 6. I regret downloading it now because I now have no sound on FaceTime.

Dec 27, 2012 6:46 PM in response to bastiaenby brcko,Agree with mmf9 and xmasdad97, check your device if it use another app that block or redirect your web traffic.
Remove their profile if any or disable it if possible.
