Just upgraded the iphone 4 to ios 6; Upgrade was smooth and after successfully upgrading to ios 6 - logged int the phone and started using the photo application. Now the iphone restarted automatically. Hw ever after restarting automatically - when i use the photo application there was no issue.
As this has never happened - i am checking if anyone else also had the same issue. Thanks.

This just happened to me. I googled the issue and found this page. Adding my experience in case it helps identifying a real issue. This never happened to me before. In my case, I was using the Reeder app reading my Google Reader feeds and bum! Out of nowhere the phone restarted.
Also, in case it helps, before that, today, the Mail app froze when I tried archiving a message. I had to kill the app and try again. I upgraded over the air the day before all these issues happened.

Happened again to me. This time, while I was on the call - the phone just restarted.
Looks like this issue needs attention from Apple.
I upgrade IOS 6 on my Iphone 4. After finish upgrading, I can use my Iphone as usual. However, after using about a few minutes, it is automatically restart. How can I resolve this problem.
When I updated the "Magic Wingdom" application, there was another automatic restart again.
Hi, got the same problem. My iPhone4s restarts up to 3 times per day without error message or any other problem indication. Hope apple works on this.

Hi everyone, i'm experiencing the same problem with my iPhone4 after updating to iOS6. It happened three times now and everytime i didn't have to enter my PIN to unlock the phone. So it looks like a reboot, but it is different because after the 'reboot' it can be used immediately.
I was afraid it was some hardware issue, but now i know that more people are experiencing this problem.

The issue happens to me more often now. Unfortunately sometimes at night when I don't notice. As I am on the alert list of my company I missed calls the other night.

Try to downgrade with IOS 5.1.1. I did it and solved the restart problem.
This issue is never resolved. Restarted while installing any applications update! Hope this gets solved if apple will be serious to their old customers issues in iphone 4

Just found this thread after noticed my iPhone4S, which is up to date with the latest iOS, automatically restarted on its own. It was just sitting on my desk under my monitor and noticed the applie icon appearing. This has happened a few time before, and the latest occurence was right before the 6.1.3 release, which prompted me to update my phone to the latest upgrade.
Hoping this is not a sign of the phone being hacked.
It just happened again. The phone is sitting on the desk and the restart Applie icon just appeared. I hope somoeone from Apple is monitoring this and a patch is being worked on to fix this.
Once again at 10:58 am. It's becoming a daily occurrence. annoying. if this goes on, I'm reconsidering getting another Apple product, and I was so looking forward to the 5S....
