Updated to iOS 6, Autobrightness no longer works.

I won't try no more.
Is evident that Autobrightness is not doing what is supposed to do.

Apple fix that 😠

I have the same problem here. After updating to iOS 6 my auto brightness is also messed up!!!

Is this a bug? Any solution anybody??? APPLE please fix this!

It work fine in iOS 5.1.1

It works for me like the video when I go somewhere bright. But when I go somewhere dark, the slider doesn't come back down. I have to manually do it. Guess that means I'll be turning it off until they fix it.

The strange thing is that my wife have iPhone 4 and I updated her phone to iOS 6 and it works. The autobrightness doesn`t go upp all the way. It works as it did in iOS 5.1.1

i have the same thing with the new ipad (auto brightness up but no auto brightness down) but strangely 4s works properly. actually it's the first time i'm really disappointed with the apple product... is it really something hard in automatically bright up and dim the screen? my nec display and two android devices can do it easily

My experience is that the slider does not determine the minimum or maximum brightness. It allows you to set the standard brightness at the ambient light level you are currently in. The autobrightness will then set that screen brightness level as a reference for that ambient light level and work around that. So if you set the brightness slider to 50% in a pitch back room, when u turn the room light on the screen will likely go to full brightness even if the room light is not that bright because you have told the phone you want middle brightness at an ambient light level of zero. So the best thing to do is go to a room with medium brightness and set the slider at a comfortable brightness level, roughly in the middle of the slider. Now you have told the phone you want 50% brightness when the ambient light is 50% (roughly), so it should dim and brighten appropriately with ambient light. Hope this helps.

I used set in the middle and forget about it. Now the brightness is always where I set it auto off or on. iPad (3)

Yep. Although I probably keep it at 35-40% most of the time as I'm usually inside. It used to adapt to room lighting as soon as I switched auto on. Now nothing.

it's very interesting but how can you explain why the screen being set to auto keeps dark in a room without lighting then goes up when i put it under the sunlight and then DOES'NT dim when i return to the room?

That's how it used to work in iOS 5 for me. To get it to dim I would just lock the device then unlock and it would automatically dim. Does that work for you in iOS 6?

Hm. That defo shouldnt be happenning. Im assuming you havent recently bought a new case for you ipad which might be blocking the light sensor. If you havent, then it might be that you just just got unlucky and the new system doesnt work on your particular device.

No...had the same case since April. iOS 6 is the only change.

I've never understood the reason for the brightness to auto-adjust from dim to bright but not from bright to dim. It makes no logical sense to me. To get the screen to dim after after being in a bright area, I have to press the power button twice...once to enable screen lock, then again to disable screen lock wher the brightness will then be dimmed to match the surrounding dim area. Seems like this remains, even after iOS 6. 😐
