Aperture 3.4 will not open.

Upgraded t Mountain Lion 8.2, iphoto 9.4 and aperture 3.4. iphoyois fine. When trying to open aperture it opens to my iphoto library (which I want) for a fraction of a second and then quits immediately. Rebooted and still with problem. Any ideas? Should I reinstall 3.01 and then upgrade again. If so how do I delete all of the version on my computer?

Is there a file I should delete??

By the way this is on a relatively new iMac.

Thanks in advance to all who can help/

After applying update to 3.4, Aperture crashed upon opening. I'd already updated to Mountain Lion 10.8.2. There was no update via Software Update, so I went to Apple's website to download the update. After a few attempts at trying to open Aperture 3.4, I threw away its preferences, which allowed me to reopen Aperture successfully. I was able to see my photo library, and went to set up Preferences. But it crashed on me when I was in Aperture Preferences trying to setup my Facebook and Flickr connections. (Both were not appearing in my list on the left of main Aperture window after this update.) While in Preferences trying to set up Facebook and Flickr connections Aperture 3.4 has consistently crashed on me.

Aperture 3.3.x was working for me beautifully with no problems at all with Facebook or Flickr connections.

There is also better way to fix this bug. Instead of deleting whole file (You will loose all settings), You can edit with favourite text editor file com.apple.Aperture.plist and replace settings regarding to facebook with photostream.

Find that section:

<key>AccountConfigurations</key>

Than this:

<key>IPHAccountTypeKey</key>

Below this there will be <string>IPHPublishServiceFacebook</string>. Replace this facebook line with:

<string>IPHPublishServiceSharedPhotoStream</string>

Now, everything except facebook will work without problems. And don't reenable facebook in Aperture - it will crash again!

Anyway, thanks Daniel for pointing me to find source of problem 🙂

Apple - it's a shame on this bug 😉

Thanks for your efforts, Leonie, but this is another update catastrophe for Aperture users. Of course, I have backups etc. But with every single one of the last three updates I had terrible issues and had to reinstall my >500 GB of data at least once (takes about half a day). How the heck does Apple test these updates (if at all)?

😠😠😠

Aperture 3.4 will not open.
