Apple maps very disappointing

Utterly useless maps unless you live in the center of a big city that apple just happens to have mapped.

Blurry, pixelated, incorrect maps - just downright awful - the kind of rubbish that one would expect from a Chinese apple knock-off

I use streetview every single day, as do, I suspect, many others.

Apple knows that ios6 maps are garbage, but they talk it up as if ios6 maps were some wonderful killer-app feature. Google and android phone manufacturers must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Was litterally just about to upgrade my iphone4 to ip5 but unless google releases an app with maps AND streetview, (not likely over the next few weeks), I rather think I will be abandoning apple for good.

Talk about apple shooting itself in the foot... Corporate idiocy (and FAIL) to the nth degree.

And to make it worse.... No rollback to ios5

I have just written to apple,

Hi I have been using macs for years now and I have four iOS divices in the house including an iphone 4s and a new iPad. I am a photographer and regularly used the maps street view feature as a visual scout of locations both to find them, work out sun direction and on occasions where I would shoot. I realise that this is a very specific use, but finding a building or house by having previously visually identified was such a tremendous feature and one which iphone and ipad users have found essential.

These features have become so integrated into the way I use my iphone and ipad that to simply remove them in one stroke shows a failure to respect your faithful apple customers. If you (Apple) lock us increasingly with every update into your architecture in the name of making things work, (which they generally do) you carry a huge responsibility to then make sure that what is forcibly introduced (no option of choice apart from not upgrading and loosing other advantages) actually is an improvement.

I am disgusted that apple, having made the billions of dollars it has off clients like me, would force OUT such a useful and integral program forcing upon us a program which is not fit for purpose. I have two iMac 27" 1 macbook pro 17" 1 macbook pro 13" a new iPad 64gb 3g an iPhone 4s and 3gs and these may be the last apple devices I ever have. I don't believe your previous CEO would have ever permitted this application to have been released in its present form. The very least I would have expected would have been for apple to put it's customers first by pouring the necessary resources into this app to make it a competitive replacement. MY LOYALTIES FADE WHEN A COMPANY PUTS ANYTHING IN FRONT OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. For the richest company in the world this is not only disgraceful but is also in my opinion a sure way to loose your customers. For now I am prepared to go through the hassle of having to reinstall my whole iphone and ipad in order to revert to 5.1.1. It will probably take me all day to do this. Brings me back to the days of windows!

I think the huge amount of money that I have spent on apple products over the last 8 years deserves more than this.

I find the new Maps app to be a major downgrade from the previous version. As a customer and a user, which I am - in the end, I find this very upsetting. Beacuse I dont care if Apple got beef with google or not. Its about user experience, and the new maps makes me not want to use it altogether. My main reason was public transportation. And this is entirely gone! I see no reason to use maps anymore.

Im glad I'm not the only one dissapointed by Apple Maps. Apple really seems to have lost its touch lately with its customers especially by forcing a half made product on to us. I rely on google maps a lot for finding business's, especially those which aren't easy to find. I've now got a mapping app that can't even find the simplest of business's.

I agree that Apple would need to clear iOS of anything google related eventually. But when replacing an important app with one that is pretty much completely inferior, it just leaves a lot of iPhone users considering a different phone for their next upgrade. I for one am now looking at an S3.

For such a great product its a shame that many iPhone users are probably feeling the same. I just hope Google release google maps on the iPhone via the app store.

Very very disapointed. Why the **** would Apple ruin the iPhone experience? I am ****** off that after all the money i've spent they have let me down my removing the most useful app with an totally inferior one. No more money will be spent until this is fixed.

Mae0125 it's not been a day! They've been working on this for a long, long time. Do you really thing up until a day ago the Apple maps where using high resolution satellite images, no missing labels or towns appearing in the wrong place, plus none of the other problems? No of course not. It was in this state before release as well.

This is their first time doing this. Imagine how long has Google been into Maps. Apple needs a little bit of understanding from you guys. I'm sure they'll fix this as soon as possible.

I thought the way these things worked is that you work on it first - then release it to the public when it works :-)

Mae0125, your missing the point. This should have been fixed before it was released. Of course it's not going to be as good as Googles, as you say they've been at it for a long time. But Apple maps should at least be useable, don't you think? It's got so many major issues with it I don't think it can be defended.

I am so angry with Apple.

I foolishly updated my phone trusting Apple and looking forward to the flyover on the maps, which were promised to be amazing.

Not only did I discover that because I have an iphone4 the fly over doesnt work, but the town I live in can't be viewed on satelite images. Roads are missing, entire housing estates have vanished!!

When you go to a restaurant, you expect the food to come out cooked and safe to eat. Here, Apple have dished up a serving of raw chicken. Not ready for the consumer at all!!!!

Will be leaving Apple in December to move on to something actually worth my money. Totally dissapointed
