Q: Apple maps very disappointing

Having just downloaded iOS 6 I am hugely disappointed with apple maps. In the UK many town names are wrong, with some missing; roads are all the same colour; satellite image resolution is not as good as it was previously. Sure, the 3D map in London is good but it only covers an area a few square miles, so is currently more of a gimmick.

So questions i have...

1) Are others experiencing the same?

2) Will it get better and if so how quickly?

3) Will there be a google maps app released soon?

No objection. You just keep hitting your head against the wall. I'll check in on you occasionally to make sure you are OK.

Have the decency of trying the link you are guiding me to and check it yourself. It doesn't have iOS in the drop down menu to choose the OS you are using. It has Windows and Macs....I am sure it was designed by the same programmer which did the iLost Maps.

Good... twice we forced that wall to open...and by the way I am not hitting my head that hurts... I am typing...

and if this didn't work I have a better solution and I won't buy from Apple again... so we know who is going to lose eventually.. I am a winner in both cases except in the former Apple could win me.

By definition, an iPhone is using iOS. The form is asking whatpcomputer system you are using. It's not especially relevant in this situation, I grant you, so pick one and then pour your heart out in the comments.

i think you also need to look up the definition of "metaphorical".

The solution we already found. It is "forcing" Apple to allow downgrading to iOS 5...and we will

I am done with your blind love sickness. You love Apple to the degree you won't admit any mistakes it does.

Shouldn't that stupid form have a drop down menu for iOS version? Why did it have all the versions for Mac OS and many versions of Windows and it didn't just mention is it a Mac or a Windows?

Anyway.. since you might not know that there is a world outside America I need to know it is getting too late here.. and I need to go to bed now...

yeah but we got different results twice... that is what you fail to see despite my repetitive reminders.

This really reminds me of another saying for Einstein. He said two things are infinite..the universe and the human stupidity but I am not quiet sure about the former.

I think you and one decided to release Apple maps proves that to a good extent.

I'm so sorry for "moaning" and "whining" but you see,  that's what people do when they get screwed! How silly of me to go to an apple support community and discuss problems I am having with an apple product. I guess I should only post positive, bright and cheery comments here. Forgive me for my confusion! (Sarcasm)

However, even though I had no right to discuss my displeasure with the new maps app on this website, in doing so, somehow I learned of a solution on this very same website that will work good enough as an alternative to keep me buying iPhones/ iPads (for now). I guess maybe this is a good place to "whine" and "moan" after all.

You have an incredibly delusional image of what "you" think "you" have accomplished.  Getting Tim Cook to acknowledge the obvious was certainly nothing you did, and Apple's change of the wording of Maps in iPhone advertising is hardly a reason to go out and celebrate.  But you have taken this discussion to such a low level that you have proven one thing for sure.  You're not rational.

Rbrylawski, your baiting techniques are designed to lead any negative assessment of the apple maps discussion into the muck. You are instrumental in creating the distraction and sideshow.

Apple maps is a pathetic release and should never have replaced a fully functional application. The iphone as a result has lost a major part of its functionality. Users would like a return part to ios5 and anything short of that will keep people furious.

It would be helpful to the dialogue for an acknowledgment of the facts surrounding this application. Your assessment that because it works on a golf course in Florida, apple maps is great is part of the reason many people who have come to this forum become a little emotional. You are professional at baiting people susceptible to emotional outburst and it is possibly where you derive your pleasure. Good for you.

Meanwhile, people will keep up the noise and keep pressure on apple to take responsiibilty beyond the point of a hollow apology. You level 6 (wow) gatekeepers dont believe in people pressure. You have no sense of history regarding what people pressure can accomplish.

Apple maps is garbage and everyone who is considering buying an iphone or upgrading their ios needs to know as there are too many apologists making out as if the application is up to the acceptable standard of a 2012 navigation application

Have we all reportet to http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html by now ?

Think most of us has reported in the map app.

I my self has seen non of my reports being solved or anything happening.

Apple is for sure running into the same problem Microsoft did 10 years ago.

Apple has shown that they are not able to run a company that has grown to big.

Apple needs to start listening to there users. The strategy they are using, trying to shut up unhappy users up is failing. There is simply to many of us by now.

And all you level 6+ users. Please try to help us make it better. Trying to "speak Apple" ( trying to shut us up )

Is not working, so live with it.

Why nobody answer my simple question: Why Apple did not tell the truth about Maps before it was launched?

Why? Because you are not talking to Apple here!

There is no one posting here that can possibly answer the question you are asking.

It's a great question, but you are simply not going to have it answered here no matter how many times you ask it.
