Q: Apple maps very disappointing

Having just downloaded iOS 6 I am hugely disappointed with apple maps. In the UK many town names are wrong, with some missing; roads are all the same colour; satellite image resolution is not as good as it was previously. Sure, the 3D map in London is good but it only covers an area a few square miles, so is currently more of a gimmick.

So questions i have...

1) Are others experiencing the same?

2) Will it get better and if so how quickly?

3) Will there be a google maps app released soon?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6

This is because Apple maps is new, and Apple is working hard on making Apple Maps a grey application for Maps. So this might take a while. So we have to see what Apple will do.

Then why don't apple TEST completely before releasing the UDPATE! are they short of QA? I think this company was having a good reputation.

Since you work at Apple and know they don't test, why are you asking the question?

That's a good question and one we'd all like an answer to.  You don't have to work at Apple to tell that iOS 6 was released prematurely and wasn't tested enough, that shows in the device in your hand and all over the internet in complaints.  Just hold out, it'll get better....

You are expecting from people to come up & be technical rather then providing a user friendly technology. We have to go to forums & google before each update that sounds crazy...Good going i hope you'll attract more people with this attitude...

In light of the problems ive been facing with my iphone 4s and the upgrade, it occured to me that if I were able to get an a brand new iphone 4s with ios5 installed, it would not be that difficult to set up a new account and go back to where i was previous to the update.

Is there any flaw in my thinking?

Could someone please let me know if its possible to upgrade from ios 5 to ios 5.1.1.

If im not able to upgrade from ios 5 to ios 5.1.1, what would i be missing out on. I honestly cant remember if there was any difference.

    Thank you

I was thinking like you, forgot it won't come 5.1.1 but from what I remember, there isn't a big enough difference to worry over.   You shouldn't have to start a new account or anything like that.  I think it's what I'm gonna do as well, hit Verizon tomorrow morning and see what they've got.  Got a Craigslist guy with a brand new in the box 64gb 4S I'm looking into buying.

I surely won't ever make the mistake of upgrading the OS, you can believe that.  Not until the bugs are worked out and the majority of people are smiling about it.... and/or there is a break available.

I ask a question to resolve my issues which is completely legitimate and suddenly all the Black-Belt-7-dan-ninjas have disappeared. Are you all really here to help or to simply shout down anyone who calls out the emperor?

I think that Steve Jobs is turning in his grave with the turnout of the new iPhone 5.  It's interesting that since the death of Steve Jobs a year ago, Apple has lost it's way. From introducing products that were the best in the world. To having countless problems with the iPhone 5 / iOS and upgrades like the New Map's App. (( I only upgraded my iPhone 4S and not my iPad, as I need a Map App that works ))

The problem with the new Map App by Tom Tom is that it doesn't have the best product available for an Apple consumers. As a once proud Apple user living abroad "Spain, Europe" it is a sad day to try to be proud about Apple. Google Maps gave us suggestions to miss-spelled road, places, location & cities no matter the language you typed it in. TomTom just says "No Result Found". If I cant' find where I need to go then how can I assist TomTom better their system.

If Apple would like for me to better their products then I believe that Apple and TomTom need to pay me/us for doing their work. Google never asked me to help them with their Map Apps. I have never paid a penny to Google for an app or program.

For Google, I am also a proud Google user. I am willing to pay to have a Google Maps App again on my iPhone & iPad. But I feel that these companies are just interested in their bottom line and egos and not on the consumers that made them what they are today... Billion-Dollar-Corporations!

A word to Apple, in short it is the Consumer that decides a companies worth. We the consumer can be very fickle.  If the post Steve Jobs Apple decided to do us the injustice of treating us any less then what Steve Jobs intended then we can stop buying apple products. This past week Apple stock started losing ground, maybe this is an inclination that consumers and investors see the change in the horizon.

Unfortunately, they gave us the deaf ear even when one of the participants in this forum wrote to the top executives he knew personally when his company was introduced to the business community as an example of Apple's success in business environment.

Today I was on the verge of throwing my iPhone 4S from the car window. I tried Safari based Google Map but itsn't at all convenient while driving. Even the blue dot doesn't seem to move with the car movements.

I think if Steve Jobs in his grave ever knew that "downgrading" the iOS has become the impossible wish for Apple customers then he would love to **** in the face of all those who approved the release of iOS 6 and those not allowing customers to return to what used to work for them.

A company that makes "downgrading" and impossible wish for its customers is certainly not worth working for, investing in, or buying from. This is just against basic customer service and no business could get away with upsetting customers... none actually had ever made it yet.

Are still willing to buy from Apple another 4S after all this? I know you mean one with iOS 5. But why buy? Do they deserve your money after all?

Your points indicate that you have helped at least 6,300 souls in the past... Why aren't you helping here or at least try not to be unhlepful?
