Tim Cook stated, "we are doing everything we can to make Maps better."
If Apple posted this every day, would that make you feel better?
I would feel better if he had told the truth BEFORE the launching of IOS 6. So I would not have updated my phone, which now is not useful for my daily use.

Oct 26, 2012 2:01 PM in response to Nogueiraby ed2020,But you accept that Apple have not "remained silent" since "mapology" (whatever that's supposed to mean)....?
Nope, you probably don't, do you. And even if you do, you'll simply find another angle to whine about.

That was weeks ago of which you have already compained about.
What does this have to do with your (latest) complaint that you are not notified every day of what they are doing?

Oct 30, 2012 5:41 AM in response to Shilts9by gkinchina,This was something that some people posting on this thread expected - http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/10/29/apples-mobile-software-and-retail-chief s-to-depart/?hp
Hopefully we will get better visibility soon on what is being done to remedy the dysfunctional native Maps situation on IOS 6.
I am using Maps+ and it uses the Google Maps and Google APIs - so seems to work somewhat in South Asia. But waiting for the Google Maps IOS app to be released - google is reported to be working furiously at it.

Ironically, had Google been working on it in the first place, Apple likely would never have bothered with their own.
Recall that Google was refusing to add turn-by-turn and voice to Google Maps for iOS, reserving those for their own (Android) version, so Apple had to switch to maintain feature parity.

Oct 31, 2012 7:19 AM in response to Shilts9by swisslu,I can't understand, why they don't make something like licenced super-users of their region which can make faster corrections of POIs, Streets and Yelp-links. I'm sure there would be enough people who would help Apple!

Oct 31, 2012 7:49 AM in response to Shilts9by Aexf82,HI,
not just in UK. even in Singapore..the maps for used to be no problem.adding on new feature but not better, i rather they just stick to the old 1.
Althought they tried to improve by introducing the narrator that works like a GPS. if they can do the landmark or search accuracy as before..
i tink it wil be wonderful..
wonder who know when the new patch wil be out?

Nov 5, 2012 9:47 AM in response to Shilts9by Nogueira,6.0.1 released and not a word about maps. Very strange.
-
Nov 5, 2012 10:35 AM in response to Nogueiraby ed2020,What's strange about it? The two things are completely unrelated. Improving the maps experience is about correcting the supporting data - nothing to do with client-side updates.

Nov 12, 2012 7:24 PM in response to Shilts9by tommyaustralia,Melbourne Central railway station shows as 'Collingwood' and there is a BP Service station there too that doesn't exist... just one example – ridiculous)
Also, why can't Siri be configured to use Australia Bureau of Meteorology weather information from 3rd party apps instead of the default overseas sourced data. I ask it is it going to rain and it says "fine weather" but then later in the day there are thunderstorms and rain!
