How can apple produce something this bad?  Two examples from my stay in London this weekend. Neither Her Majesty's theatre nor Courtauld gallery are found. Something seriously amiss in the search algorithms.

To be fair, it does not find "Courtauld gallery". But the above is the first hit when searching for "Courtauld".

One thing the haters keep forgetting is that Apple Maps is a mobile app. It is not an armchair mapping tool like Google Maps. It is meant to be used on the go. Consequently, if you search for "Courtauld" and you haven't already navigated to the correct country, you are not going to find it.

As we have seen time and time again, all someone has to do is report an error and it is often fixed the very next day. Also, this article makes it sound as though Apple is "blowing them off" about the problem. That has never been the case with Apple. They are probably simply being referred to the right place to go for a resolution. We all know Apple is working hard to resolve their location services issue, and when they do, trolls like you will have to find something else to waste your employers time with besides scouring the internet all day searching for articles critical of Maps. Clearly you are not an Apple fan, so why are you here exactly?

Look at the bright side. I heard about this story a while back. I am surprised it took the trolls this long to post it here. But now it gives us a chance to comment on it. People out on the internets may not know the details, but anyone in this thread sure does. The best part of the article is this: "The FireReady app was forced to use Apple Maps, CFA said." Not only that, they were forced to use Apple's database instead of their own, government-created data. Apple even forces them to use text-based locations instead of GPS coordinates. I suppose Apple must have also forced them to gave their towns and counties the same name. That would be like people in Ontario, California complaining that Apple Maps keeps locating their city somewhere in Canada.

So I have to match my workflow to the tool rather than have what Apple used to do which is offer intuitively easy tools?  Evidence perhaps that Apple is losing something vital as it morphs into Micro$oft...

What are you talking about? Trollster imaybeawhile re-activated a rant thread that had been dormant for a whole two weeks in order to post a link about an app made by the County Fire Authority of the government of Victoria, Australia. How does the County Fire Authority's poorly made app impact your workflow?

So I make a reasonable but not particularly generalisable observation about how Apple maps is not working particularly well, in my experience, and is not as intuitive as other Apple gear (of which I happen to own a  fair amount and so have a considered opinion deriving from  xperience).  I also use an archaic term as an ironic nod towards to the impact of corporatisation on innovation and responsiveness; easily misunderstood I'm sure, such is the nature of irony.  The response?  A personal comment.  And your point about maturity is...?  My error was to respond to a comment made two weeks ago, that did not really need addressing, and whose appearance out of context is not helpful.  Your error was...?
