Q: Apple maps very disappointing

Having just downloaded iOS 6 I am hugely disappointed with apple maps. In the UK many town names are wrong, with some missing; roads are all the same colour; satellite image resolution is not as good as it was previously. Sure, the 3D map in London is good but it only covers an area a few square miles, so is currently more of a gimmick.

So questions i have...

1) Are others experiencing the same?

2) Will it get better and if so how quickly?

3) Will there be a google maps app released soon?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6

Saw this yesterday and immediately thought of this thread. Still no Google Maps for the iPad either. What goes around comes around. Every dog has its day. Too funny for words.

You responded to a 3 month old post in a thread that no one has posted in in over two months...

You joined this discussion forum just yesterday and this is your first post? In a dead thread? I'm curious as to why you chose this particular forum to introduce yourself. Strange.

Apple maps are shockingly bad, particularly in the UK. A number of villages and small towns are simply missing.

It is incredible that Apple seem unconcerned about their reputation. One can't blame TomTom as their maps on my iPhone TomTom application are more detailed. What have Apple bought from them?

Your reply is eight months late. Do you have anything to add that has not been ground out in the last 150 pages of moaning?

I expect you were a first timer once.

My first and last time, if this is the standard of response.

    Stallance,

The Apple maps are still pretty bad in places here in the US also.

My wife and I were driving to a historical park in our capital city and decided to double check the route because there are many one way streets in the area.  My wife upgraded to an iphone 5 not long ago and couldn't get the park to come up by searching in Maps.  I was driving and so handed her my iphone 4 with IOS 5 still on it and she brought it up in the old Maps in a few seconds and we were good to go.  I don't have any plans to upgrade at this point until things improve.

Thats how they are on here.  I've been on many other forums that are much more helpful.  Here, they're just ready to pounce.  Honestly, I wouldn't bother with these people.  They're not helpful, they're just eager to be rude to someone.

When you spout nonsense and your only intention is to talk trash, when you state personal opinion as indisputable fact, when you really don't want help but are looking for comfrimation of your biased opinion then yes, you will be pounced upon. And you should be.

Stallance is not asking for help with anything. Stallance's purpose is to rant and trash.

In my humble oppinion, we don't need a Beautiful Map! We need something that works!

Maps from IOS 5 worked good, we also can find bus routes! Amazing! But now we can't find bus routes and, if can, the routes are wrong!

Maybe a couple of people are thinking: "But if you have iPhone/iPad, spending a lot of money buying an idevice, you need to take bus?" The answer is completly simple: not just me, but a lot of people!

I am currently living in China, that if you are in a bus, one person of four has iPhone! It means, 25% of a poputation that ride bus are not interested to open Apple Maps because, because... It is useless for them (and for me).

It is difficult to everybody understand why it is necessary a good map with bus routes… but even Chineses is totally dificult to figure it out the exactly bus line and bus station to take the right bus and go somewhere. There are lots here!

So, please, build a Map that works, simply works. 3D view is just makeup, spending too much money to build something usefull instead of build usefull tools.

Hope someone concern about a oppinion from milions of Chineses Apple users..

    Cheers

I've tried all the maps you have in mind to do this. No one shows up a reasonable result.

Even though you thingk that Maps in IOS5 is as the same as Google maps, no, it's not. This is theory, not practice… there is any map with the same quality as Maps from IOS5.
