Sep 21, 2012 2:10 AM in response to Shilts9by mindbodyexpert,What a shame... unfortunately my iOS keyboard can't even type the extent and magnitude that I and my research group (owning 17 iPhones -3GS & 4s (iPod etc separate). .. and for sure, me and my employees hav decided that on our contact's (corporate deal) end on 10th October, when 10 iPhones will be freed up from Rogers, we will be adopting non apple devices. I would have never even dreamed of saying this to me when Great SJ was around. But, we have experienced so much troubles with apple's policies under new management with apple products and services (which they call as product itself). It would be foolish to say that latest problem with Maps is the one reason to give up on loyalty of decades. .. But trust me apple (I don't even want to correct the spelling for apple), enough is enough. You can hav all the feuds with Samsung or google or MS, but it's a slippery Downward spiral from now on. It's not hidden how much profit you make by 'made in china', and you could not do even proper rich data gathering for maps, and put millions of people at risk, and then giving stupid remarks about user policies, and cloud-based solutions (more users-more error free). My or my employee are no way to affect ur profits... but think what If there are millions like me and us on this forum. Shame on you apple..don't be cry baby...and don't even dare to take people's rights for granted. The
Quickly you became the richest corporate, the faster u will bite the dust!.. And SJ is not here anymore!

Sep 21, 2012 2:13 AM in response to Shilts9by ahaslam,I wonder what Apple was thinking when they delivered this clearly inferior app. Don't they have test groups to get user feedback beforehand? I can't imagine Apple Maps being greenlit when it clearly needed more development time.
Don't get me wrong, I love all the new features of iOS 6 with the exception of this, but now my enthusiasm has been dampened somewhat. Apple should stay committed to delivering the finest user experience, even if that means letting Google control maps for some time longer. At least until Apple Maps can deliver resaonably accurate data. The maps don't have to be as richly detailed as Google's necessarily -- they just need to be correct. -
Sep 21, 2012 2:22 AM in response to stoopoby Heroicrockstar,How did you do this? Can I install a previous back up?
Cheers.

Sep 21, 2012 2:29 AM in response to Heroicrockstarby stoopo,I totally agree! I have just managed to downgrade to 5.1.1 again through this link (might get pulled):
http://techglobex.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/downgrade-from-ios-6-beta-firmware-to.h tml
What I did was :
1. Make sure I was on itunes 10..6.3.25
2. Dowloaded 5.1.1 from the link
3. Connected my phone to itunes
4. Held the shift key down and then pressed 'update'
5. Found the 5.1.1 download and clicked open.
6. Then let it do its work.
7. I then had to restore my phone from the back up I made before I upgraded to 6. It offered icloud or computer and I chose computer.
8. just let it run - it then asked me for a new passcode and then went on to download all my apps/music/photos etc.
I am now back with google maps working as well as youtube. Everything is as it was
Hope this helps but don't blame me if you have problems - maybe I have been lucky.

Sep 21, 2012 2:52 AM in response to Fluuby stoopo,If you have an iphone 4s then I think it's worth upgrading to 6.0. If you have an iphone 4 then forget it. You lose much more than you gain!

Sep 21, 2012 3:50 AM in response to Shilts9by RaunaqM,Hey...download...G-whizz! From app store...u can use it as a substitute for google maps.

Sep 21, 2012 5:03 AM in response to Shilts9by FLGB,Please give us back the original maps app from google.
The new maps app is horrible, bad street names, points of interests in random locations, streets names not displayed, no street view, traffic indications not really working, etc.
Apple, this app is a shame!!
-
Sep 21, 2012 5:20 AM in response to Shilts9by ONeillio,I've ended up adding "maps.google.com" to my home screen. It's exactly the same as the Google app we all knew and loved.
I've found the apple maps app to be useless. My local village where I live is in black and white with clouds over the top. The surrounding areas are so pixilated and blurry you cannot see a thing. Trying to use it for directions is taking me on journeys for 15 miles which can be done in 6? And to top it off; no Streetview. This is ridiculous!!!!
All this has saddened me as I was looking forward to this app! I believe iOS6 has been a major disappointment overall. You're slipping Apple! Either sort out your maps app or give us what we want; Google Maps. Actually just give us what we want, the customer is always right!

Sep 21, 2012 7:21 AM in response to _SIKES_by stoopo,Re post how you did it as they are deleting lots of my comments. Guess they are a bit upset with those of us that don't like their handy work!

Sep 21, 2012 7:28 AM in response to stevemhallby atomicluck1,There are dozen of places in Australia alone that are not only wrong, but appear on other continents. Ararat in Victoria now appears in Armenia, a place in Morwell, Victoria now is in New South Wales and the list goes on. Train stations listed that have been closed for 31 years. Or back in the UK .... my village not only missing, but renamed.
Wish that Apple would come up with a link other than iPhone feedback to send in reports of errors.

REVERT BACK TO iOS 5.
http://techglobex.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/downgrade-from-ios-6-beta-firmware-to.h tml
What I did was :
1. Make sure I was on itunes 10.6
2. Dowloaded iOS 5.1.1 from the link (Handy tip, when you update to iOS 6 look in the trash, iOS 5 will most likely be chucked in there like yesterday's jam...)
3. Connected my phone to itunes and put it into DFU mode (ignore warnings about not being able to sync) (ignore the warning that you need a new version of iTunes to sync this phone)
4. Held the option key down and then pressed 'restore'
5. Found the 5.1.1 download and clicked open.
6. Then let it do its work. It said Apple was verifying the update.
7. I then had to restore my phone from the back up I made before I upgraded to 6. It offered icloud or computer and I chose computer.
8. Just let it run - it then asked me for a new passcode and then went on to download all my apps/music/photos etc.
I am now back with google maps working as well as youtube. Everything is as it was
The only new feature to iOS 6 I found somewhat improved is the reject call with SMS option. But honestly I can quickly send a text after rejecting the call.
