Sep 28, 2012 9:12 AM in response to G Lamby G Lam,Even though Tim Cook has apologized, he still won't reinstate google map and street view back. He still does not realize the original Maps is one of the reasons iPhone is successful. Street view in particular. Seems that we will not get street view back. I guess this wouldn't have happened if Steve was still here!
Apple is different nowadays. Ip5 is a piece of fine jewel in the sea of smart phones in terms of hardware. But what they have done to the Maps shows that the current management does not what the existing customers are thinking.
It's sad!

Sep 28, 2012 9:19 AM in response to AndyKhongby G Lam,China is worse! Or shall I say blank!
99.9% of China does not even have maps, I mean it is blank, nothing, zero! Whereas Google covers the most remote parts of the country, 90% I believe.
I really feel cheated by Apple this time.

Sep 28, 2012 9:22 AM in response to G Lamby G Lam,Seems like Apple does care about their loyal customer anymore. They just want to sell more phones by the goodwill carried from the past.
I guess they have peaked and will be all downhill from here!

Sep 28, 2012 9:28 AM in response to simtubby lynnfromleigh,I don't consider what Tim Cook has said to be an apology.
Yes he said sorry but more in terms of
"Sorry but tough ****, we've stolen what you had and you've just got to put up with it"
The article in the apple insider link makes it seem that we will at least get streetview back but that comment did not come from Tim Cook and has not been confirmed.
What Tim Cook actually said is published on this site http://www.apple.com/letter-from-tim-cook-on-maps/

Sep 28, 2012 9:58 AM in response to Shilts9by marcella roelin,I am an older (69) user in the Netherlands. And also i visit a lot of older people to help them with their pc's or laptops or tablets.
The change Apple made with the maps app in iOS6 is desastrous for this group using Ipads. They were used to Google Maps and now they see a complete different app with also a lot of very and an say it again, very great mistakes in the application. We are back in the 80's i suppose. What a mess Apple!!!
I will advise all the elder people i visit and want advice about a tablet not to buy a tablet from Apple for the moment but a Google orientated tablet.
Apple you should go quickly back to the Google app. Is was good and far superior and elder people were used to it.
Shame on you Apple.

Sep 28, 2012 10:23 AM in response to Shilts9by Marsstar102,I drive nearly 150 miles a day around my town and I used google maps to find where I was going but this new maps is crap. The colors they choose make so hard for me to see the roads that its useless. I wish they would let me go back to google maps or fix there issues.

But do any of these work around 3rd party apps allow integration with the address book, etc. like the native app?
I called apple and they said some apps could do this although they couldn't give me an example.
