Sep 29, 2012 6:33 AM in response to le.bouchby AppleMapFail,I found the address in an alert and mailed him..
He sent back their a copy of their message telling him he was barred.
I don't want to post the content but it's draconian.
Was right that they can't take criticism.
Anybody got a solution for this yet?
Was following the thread - as we have similar issues.
We relied upon an iPhone and a tethered iPad3 using Google Maps to deliver meals to the elderly..
It was great, cos the office could update us as we were on the rounds.
Now we are constantly misdirected using Crapple Maps
We are back to our old Garmin Streetpilot..
Will follow up on another post and check out that website offer.
I don't think Apple are listening to their customer base any more.
If anything they're trying to alienate them.
Good luck Jingling.. Thanks for all your posts.

Sep 29, 2012 6:47 AM in response to Shilts9by Felixx2011,Yesterday, I made many suggestions for corrections of lables, new locations, etc.
What is the timeframe for the process of Apple Maps to approve and include those corrections?

Sep 29, 2012 7:04 AM in response to Shilts9by Godsent007,I have tried to use the Apple maps in Nigeria and Ghana but they are not showing the maps. Unlike google maps, it seems Apple is not ready for Africa. Can we at least have the google maps back as an option until Apple is ready for us?

No.

Sep 29, 2012 8:18 AM in response to Godsent007by gkinchina,Hi Godsent007,
If you wait for a month or two, Google IOS Maps app should be available. They have said that they are trying to launch by Christmas.
There is also a possibility that Apple may introduce some better way for us to use Google maps until then, as other map options don't work we'll in most places outside the USA. I think this is very much possible because just as the consumer backlash enabled an apology from the CEO, the effect on sales, the emerging data on low Maps usage post IOS6 and potential massive legal complications could enable a way to use the older App.
In the meanwhile, it will be troublesome, but try using the Google Maps through the browser and create a icon for it on your home screen. One other elegant and easier way to use Google maps is to create a lot of your own places in Google Maps "my places" and then download the Google Maps My Places app - then you will have simple, one click access to the Google Map location for those places and the route.
If this is also not working, as a temporary measure, buy a cheap Android phone and use Google Maps ( I did this and obviously, it works well)

Sep 29, 2012 9:08 AM in response to Godsent007by gkinchina,You must also post and ask all people who face problems to post - in these forums (of course Apple reads them - don't listen to the fanboys who say otherwise), using the complaint links to Apple.
Hopefully, action can be enforced instead of all the pleading and requesting.

Not according to Eric Schmidt:

Apple, are you 'here' or not? How about actually chiming in with some info or help, rather than just deleting stuff that ruffles your skirts before scuttling back to your hole?
No, Apple does not participate here. Had you read the Terms of Use to which you agreed when you signed up, you would know that. This is a user-to-user technical support forum. If you want Apple to know how you feel, use the Feedback page:

Sep 29, 2012 9:21 AM in response to Shilts9by gkinchina,***? The Apple guys edited my post and made it look very benign!! This is not OK Apple - especially on a forum where your fanbois keep shouting that that "Apple does not monitor these posts". My foot!
Anyway, to the people facing problems in using Google Maps on Safari, here is another workaround that can make things easier -
Download the App Google "Local" and use it to search for places and then show you on the Map. It is much easier than doing it on Safari.
I believe the IOS 6 jailbreak and the bootleg old IOS 5 Google Maps app should be available within a week or so. A jailbreak will be the best way to go then - easiest and fastest solution. Boy o boy, this CRAPMAP episode is going to increase the number of jailbroken phones out there ten times over!
Unless of course, Apple makes the same app available sooner.

Sep 29, 2012 9:21 AM in response to matttye88by rbrylawski,Well, you'll likely flame me for this, but I read many of his posts and they were RANTS and not very nice ones to boot. We all agreed to terms of service when we joined this forum and RANTs are against the terms of use. This is a place to come and get answers to issues problems. Not to inflame, rant or be overly critical.
Are there people upset about Maps? Sure. Are Maps an issue to me? No. I live in a densely populated US city where Maps has worked flawlessly thus far. Is Apple aware they have a problem? Of course they. Tim Cook's public apology is proof of that. My how short people's memories are. When Google Maps first came out they were dreadful. Actually far worse than Apple Maps. But these Maps applications are self building. The more they get used, the more accurate they become. And with millions upon millions of users out there, accuracy will become the norm in the not distant future.
In the meantime, as has been demonstrated ranting doesn't help and can get one barred from the forum. So, what do you do? Do as Tim Cook and so many others have suggested. Use an alternative App, like MapQuest, or Waze. Put Google Maps on your homepage, via Safari and maps.google.com. Buy a great GPS App like Tom Tom. Maybe be nicer to each other, stop crying and moaning, and just move on with your life.

The Hosts monitor the forums for violations of the Terms of Use. Apple doesn't participate in the forums by posting or responding to posts.
This is Apple's forum. They reserve the right to delete anything they want. You agreed to that when you signed up.

Sep 29, 2012 9:29 AM in response to rbrylawskiby gkinchina,This is a place for people to complain and so they will.
I recommend you move on from this thread and find some other place to have a passionate relationship with your Apple devices.
The Maps stuff will cause a lot of ranting - here and everywhere on the web. Because it is a very serious issue. 75 percent of smartphone users require and use Maps.
It is also an issue serious enough to cause loss of life and limb for some unfortunate people and a **** of a lot of money to some unfortunate businesses who have built dependence on IOS Maps 5.
Tim Cooks suggestions dont work for over 40 percent of iLost users.
The right thing for Apple to do and the solution that all these "rants" are asking for is for the company to reinstate IOS 5 Maps in some way until they fix their crappy IOS6 Maps.
This is a legitimate request, especially since they have the license for another year! I am sure that court rulings will soon happen to enforce this.
