Oct 1, 2012 12:31 PM in response to pedramolarby gkinchina,Yes. Apple sold us the IOS5 Maps and we paid for it. They replaced it with a product IOS6 Maps that they claimed was superior and now have apologised for saying so. We want the IOS5 Maos back.
So yes, Apple not only promised the Map but also sold it to us.

Oct 1, 2012 12:33 PM in response to pedramolarby Monsterbearman,Yes you are. And I am done with you. Do you really think you are doing anyone any good on here arguing with everybody that is upset and disappointed? all you are doing is inflaming them. Do you really think your ultimate wisdom is going to make us all see the light and realize the error in our dissatisfaction? All you have managed to do is make me twice as upset as I was in the beginning, but that's probably exactly what you intended to do in the first place. Bravo

Did Apple promise Google Maps? I'm confused.
I'm sorry pal, but you're arguing for arguing's sake now.
Apple had already given us Google Maps and then promised us 'the most beautiful, powerful mapping system ever' as a replacement in iOS6. It's pedantic and myopic to think anyone was expecting anything less than a Maps product at least as good as Google's, especially given Forstall's orgasmic demo.
Adjective, superlative, adjective, anyone?

Oct 1, 2012 12:40 PM in response to Monsterbearmanby gkinchina,That is correct. It appears that on this forum, there are people who are complaining about a problem they are facing and also suggesting a solution that they want from Apple. They are also talking about different courses of action that can be taken to get the solution from Apple and laying out reasons why Apple must give that solution. Those reasons are being backed up by logic, description of why losses are being incurred, publicly quoted statistics to show that the problem is widespread and causing damage to Apple as well.
And there are people who are not being helpful, offering no solutions, they themselves face no problem and say so - then why are they on this thread? Maybe you are right - just to inflame people and to privately snigger at other people's genuine problems.

Just a quick comment form an Apple iPhone 5 user in the states. In the past, when Apple releases something new, there is an even larger innovation around the corner. I believe Apple could imrpove their current issue with their Maps App by working with solid GIS firms such as Mandli Communications, Inc. They currently house hundreds of thousands of miles of geographic data which is remarkably robust.
Interesting. Tell us more...

Oct 1, 2012 12:41 PM in response to Westmeathby KC7GNM,Anytime you have brand new software no matter how small the change you should test it on systems that you don't need to rely on before deploying it.

Oct 1, 2012 12:46 PM in response to KC7GNMby gkinchina,Please read my Microsoft analogy. This statement (testing the software) does not necessarily hold for this Map update.

Oh man. Yes, ultimately you're right.
But back in the real world.... In the business I'm in you should also check under your car for naughty boxes before you set off. The one day you don't and a big bang happens, did you just commit suicide or did someone murder you?

Oct 1, 2012 12:47 PM in response to JBDeliveryby KC7GNM,Use google maps in safari. Works just fine and google has said they will add support for street view so I don't see what the problem is. There are a ton of free and paid apps out there that do the same thing that the old app did even better.

Oct 1, 2012 12:49 PM in response to KC7GNMby gkinchina,This has been logically already answered by people on this thread. google maps on Safari does not solve the problem. It is an issue of integration and more.

Oct 1, 2012 12:50 PM in response to gkinchinaby gkinchina,If there are free or paid Apps that can solve the problems, Apple can buy them , make them the default Map app and make it available to all of us. I am sure everybody will be happy with that.

We just need google to make the app
Would love the court to rule that Apple had to give us all a Google app lol
Is there any one who has acces to Tim's email ?
Think perhaps contacting him is better then using this Black hole : -
Oct 1, 2012 1:10 PM in response to iforumuserby KC7GNM,What you are missing is the Integration Factor. This has been pointed out pretty well in many past posts by JBDelivery and others.
There are no work arounds for this to my knowledge. Yes, you can buy a 3rd party map app but it is not integrated with Contacts, Calendar and even other 3rd pary apps which link to the native Map app. The difference in usefullness is like Night and Day. You may have never used the integrated features of Maps much. Some causal users don't know much about it but once you use these integrated features and ways of doing things there is no substitute except spending much much more time than necessary.
I guess you haven't tried many 3rd party apps. My Tom Tom app can use my contacts in the phone with no problems. It has google search for businesses and other integrated features. This is just one of the many that support integration but you are just too blind to try something different. All you want is google. Well it isn't going to happen so either deal with it or get another app.
