Oct 1, 2012 1:24 PM in response to gkinchinaby KC7GNM,Yes it does hold up you just don't want to see that testing any software no matter who makes it before deploying it business wide is the smart thing to do. Upgrading your system without testing is your fault.

Oct 1, 2012 1:26 PM in response to KC7GNMby iforumuser,KC7GNM,
Not sure why you are being so harsh and critical? If you found a Map App that is completely integrated like the Native Map app all you need to do is share this info with us and it is much appreciated. I surely wasn't trying to start and argument with you. Why are we all fighting instead of helping each other. Fighting and be so critical is just a wast of time.
So you are saying the Tom Tom App is integrated and if you tap on an address in contacts, Safari, etc., the location will we shown in the Tom Tom app instead of the Apple Map? That would be great. How does the IOS know which map to open up? Is there a setting in the Tom tom app which somehow overides the info getting passed to the native map?
Thanks

Oct 1, 2012 1:26 PM in response to gkinchinaby KC7GNM,Then what is stopping you from downloading an app? Apple doesn't have to supply everything to you. There would be no app developers if they did.

Oct 1, 2012 1:28 PM in response to justjesperby KC7GNM,Then ask google to make an app. Last word I heard was that they had no plans to release an iOS app for google. Don't blame apple for something google refuses to make.

Oct 1, 2012 1:30 PM in response to gkinchinaby Shawn819,So, I agree that it's disappointing from some people in some areas, but I think you're just hysterical now. You're talking about a product that's been available to consumers for 12 days now that replaced a product with a decade's worth of refining. It's going to get better over time. If it is THAT bad and THAT critical to your life, buy a Garmin app or something. If you just dropped $200-400 or more on a phone, you can't say $40 is unreasonable. Lastly, if a product feature that was underwhelming was cause for a lawsuit, I'd be a rich man from Sony, Microsoft, and many others. Seriously, Apple knows people are complaining, so they'll fix it over time. They sure aren't going to let the competitor that they just spent billions to replace come right back onto the phone and retake the marketshare. So, calm down. they will improve the experience for you, I'm sure.

Oct 1, 2012 1:32 PM in response to iforumuserby KC7GNM,Ah so the problem is you can't just open Tom Tom and get directions from the app. You want everything to be integrated to the point of not having to actually open another app. I see the problem now. You are all too lazy to tap on another app or too lazy to actually do a little bit of work. Now I see the problem. Thanks for making that clear.

Oct 1, 2012 1:38 PM in response to KC7GNMby iforumuser,Sorry, but you are not posting any helpful information. Calm down a little.
If you would explain how the replacement you like so well works, that would be helpful.
I for one am interested in how the replacement apps you like so well actually works.
You said it was integrated but now with your last post I'm confused.

Oct 1, 2012 1:41 PM in response to KC7GNMby Lear Pilot,You sound ridiculous. You should hear yourself. Why should people have to a) copy address information; b) open another app; c) paste that information in; d) flip back and forth between two apps in a feeble attempt to RESTORE functionality that was there when they BOUGHT the product?!
Lazy? You obviously have no idea how warranty of merchantibility is supposed to work. Or false representation.
Oh, one more thing. I was in Santa Ana, California yesterday and had Apple maps route me to the nearest Starbucks. It was .7 miles away. The route it gave me (and it was the ONLY route it suggested) was circuitous and was 1.8 miles. I did the same on my iPad 1 using the original maps. The route was .8 with a uturn. Yeah, no problem there I guess. Works great.

Oct 1, 2012 1:48 PM in response to KC7GNMby justjesper,KC7GNM. I think you need to understand that it is not working for a lot of people.
Suggesting people to download a app that's not integrated with calendar and address book, is failing to understand the importance of the problem.
I also think that with no response from Apple, other then the response from Tim apologizing for sending out this map, that is not working properly, shows that the feedback feature ( http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html ) is also not working.
Or perhaps Apple is affright of there users, and think it helps keeping them in the dark.
With Apple growing marked share, I think they have failed to understand that you cant just downplay problems like this. Even there stocks are showing that they are doing something wrong.
I'm a bit confused what to do, cause I don't see Apple doing anything to sort out any of the problems.

Oct 1, 2012 1:57 PM in response to KC7GNMby iforumuser,I looked up the Tom Tom app and it does state:
"Seamless integration with your iPhone/iPad contacts, photos, music, email and calendar"
KC7GNM,
Please explain how it works. I'm interested.
In the native app if you are in your contacts, calendar, Safari, etc, and tap an address it takes you to the map and shows where the address is. A couple more taps and you have a route.
How does the Tom Tom app work?
