Usually the ATV firmware doesn't get released for a while after other iDevices. ATV's iOS beta hasn't hit GM yet but should some time soon. This is one of those sit and wait type of things.

AppleTV 2 and 3 run an iOS variant.
AppleTV 1 ran an older OS X version.

Not iOS 6. But there is a new update available. I turned my AppleTV (New black), and it asked me if I wanted to update. Said no for now.
Really? I've checked mine today (same model as yours) and it tells me I'm up to date. :-/
The latest version that I have on my ATV3 is 5.0.2. This was only for some bug fixes.
I wonder what will happen with YouTube on the Atv if apple has ended it's license with google? Unless it does allow apps.
I just updated my ATV to iOS 6,
Youtube is still there, the only new feature I could see is if you hold the select button over an app it starts wiggleing and you can move it around, sort of like you do on iphone.
No new apps whatsoever, but then again im in Mexico, so content could be limited to my region.

Edit: Forgot to mention mine is ATV2, and Im kind of dissapointed, I was expecting to see some new apps, I would very much love to watch NFL on my ATV, guess thats not gonna happen.
How did you get the IOS 6 for apple tv? My version is 5.1 ( 5201), is this the IOS 6?
I just uldated it, maybe what yu are missing is, when you go to the general adjustments, then about, you press the select button again on the remote, and you should see the os version

The latest ATV version (just released) is 5.1, not 6. Apple has not kept ATV and iOS versions the same.

5.1 is the latest, according to Apple:

And according to all the articles on the latest update.
But what is really odd is that the "About" screen on my ATV 2 is different than yours (e.g. no "OS Build Version", mine says "Apple TV Software 5.1 (5201)", and your model number differs from mine.
You mentioned that you have an ATV 2, and you're in Mexico, so either it is a regional difference, or you have developer code installed, or did you jailbreak perhaps?
When you are on the about screen click the select button again, it will switch to os version

Yes the "OS Build" is 6.0 and the "Software" is 5.1. Apple has had this dual-numbering scheme for a long time and it is confusing -- I think the only time they've been the same for ATV was with the 4.3 release.
Is it technically correct to call this release "iOS 6"? I suppose, and you can call it whatever you want but all of the reviews on this release (and Apple's own article above) refer to it as "Software Update 5.1". Why Apple continues this dual-numbering is beyond me, but if you want to call it "6.0" then I won't call you a liar 😉
