iOS 6 Music Not Really There

I have updated successfully to iOS 6 on an iPhone 4.

After restoring the backed up iPhone I happily found my music now on the phone. However, not all the music is actually on the phone. It skips between songs that it cannot find.

I am a member of iTunes match but the ability to download the 'missing' music is not present on any of the skipped tracks.

This is incredibly annoying. Has anybody else experienced the same and if so, have you found a solution?

I FOUND A FIX THAT WORKED FOR ME

I noticed the albums not showing up on the iPhone had "Part of a compilation" checked off in the song info on iTunes. So after I unchecked all of them and resynced, they all showed up.

Same issue here although I can't seem to play any music at all. My album and artist names are there, but when I click on an album, it just shows a the number of songs but no song titles or album art and all the songs show as lasting 0 minutes, 0 seconds. I tried turning off iTunes match and turning back on but no dice. It also deleted all the audiobooks I had loaded on the device which do not go through iTunes match.

I can see that the music app is working (spinning circle next to wi-fi signal indicator). Just wondering nhorsthius, do you have a really large music library like me? I'm thinking it may just need time to rebuild the library and perhaps since everyone updating to iOS6 needs to do the same, it's taking even longer than it would normally. Not that that will help me on the drive home, but I'm willing to give it a few hours. I don't even care that much; I'll be wiping this phone and giving it to my wife when the iPhone 5 arrives on Friday 😁

I have been trying since 2pm to update the music app, and I don't have an overly large iTunes Match list of music, but I cannot get the music to show. I can get the playlists and I can get the album names, but the music files are not there.

I've even tried to re-download music from iTunes and once downloaded, the songs still don't show.

Turning off iTunes Match and turning it back on doesn't help.

I think you could be right GoodTroll. If this is the case I'm glad all my iTunes music is hard copied.

Hardly fills me with confidence with Apple. The only thing that makes be doubt the lack of server availability and Match's inability to restore the music is that it doesn't allow you the option to download the music right now.

Come on Apple put us out of our misery.

Same here..

I tried restarting my iPhone 4 several times, closing the music app and turning iTunes Match on and off.

Sometimes I get the playlists but they are empty and sometimes I don't even get my playlists but the artists.

And sometimes the app crashes when I try to reopen.

Played around for over 2 hours now and can't get it to work!

Is there anyone having the same problem and found a solution before I try to restore my phone?

I have the same problem. I also copied podcasts to my phone after the upgrade to iOS 6. When my iPhone is connected to my PC and I browse to podcasts, iTUnes indicates all the podcasts are there. When I go into music, it shows no podcasts. I also have the problem with artists and albums showing, but track data is missing and no music will play.

I tunrned match off on the phone and now the music app crashes everytime I try and run it.
