I was having the same issue also...  When I checked the map in reminders, it showed me in the ocean.  When I added USA to the address, it then found the actual location I was looking for.  Have not tried it out yet now, but will for sure be setting a reminder for "When I leave work" and see how it does.

You speak on the past ("was having") because now it works?! Are you using an iPad or iPhone?! We miss the option in the reminders app...

I'm having the same issue on iOS 6 and my iPad3.

Siri says she can't create location based reminders, neither can I do it manually.

I also don't use an exchange account, because people say that this seems to be a problem.

My reminders are synched into iCloud and they are synched to my iPhone 3GS (yes, I know that one can't deal with location based reminders).

All the synchs work perfectly, but no luck on location based reminders via siri or not on my iPad.

Wonder if it has to do with the iPhone 3GS after all, in a way that suggests that because it can't deal with them, it also means while I have one in my infrastructure, none of my devices can use it.

Can anyone confirm this, or deny?

I do not think so, my iPad too (due to this BUG) cannot store location, but it sync to my mac using iCloud. On my mac I can set the location and the reminders sync works well with my iPad even if it cannot (yet) store and show the location.

Sorry to report, but USA vs United States in the country did NOT fix the issue.

Sorry about the tense as well.  I am still having the issue.  Hoping for a fix soon!

I also use an iPhone 3gs. After reading your post I turned off reminders on iCloud and exchange so the local option was used. Same problem occurred!

I am having the same issue.  Has anyone heard back from Apple?

Same problem here, I have tried all the tricks mentioned to make it work, but still no luck.

Will let you know if I solve it.

I just contacted Apple, and I talked to their senior tech who told me he will deliver this issue to the engineering Dept. and get back to me Within 24 to 48 hours.

    I will post any updates.

Also the senior tech I am spoken too told me that I "should" receive an answer after max 48 hours but nobody called me back...at least they could call me to say "THIS IS A BUG, OUR MISTAKE" the silence does not help. After my iPad (I still use an Android phone) I did want to switch to iPhone, but after this, now that I have seen with my eyes how this company does not admit their own mistake...I think I will stay there. If you say "I'll call you back in 48 hours you MUST call me back, even if you have to say that nothing can be done and that we have to wait to a minor upgrade, period.

Look at that http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4970 some days ago that page stated that location based reminder was available to the new iPad too (using iOS6), now...nobody has called us back but they have updated that page, now only iPhone 4 and later can do that. Bad bad, this is bad, not for the problem itself but for how Apple is managing this question.

My support case was closed with no replay, I have called Apple right now and they told me that WE WERE WRONG, location reminde was not supposed to work on our iPad and they have updated the HT4970 article, period. Actually it should work because of the good and low power GPS chip installed in our new iPad (in fact, am I wrong or turn by turn [useless due to the map at least here] is available only on the new iPad and not on iPad 2?!), so maybe this feature will be available on the futur iOS update. Anyway horrible way to manage the situazione Apple, orrible, and...correct me if I am wrong but at the keynote when Apple presented iOS 6 the location reminder works on the iPad...
