Sep 19, 2012 4:57 PM in response to agentgonzo2by ozgrunt,So Apple devices 'check in' with an apple.com website every time you connect to Wifi even your own private one??
I take it they are logging all the IPs that hit the site and using the data to determine geographic location and usage.
Anyone have any privacy concerns here?

Sep 19, 2012 4:58 PM in response to LugorIVby An-kun,Found the fix! Super easy. In the wireless network settings all I had to do was make sure Auto-Join was set to ON for the wifi network in the wireless network's settings (click on arrow on right of SSID to get there).
I am not sure why this setting changed. I assume it is a bug. Maybe works as designed for security?

Sep 19, 2012 4:58 PM in response to LugorIVby ninicp,I was having this exact same a few minutes ago. I tried rebooting my phone and that didn't work. I ended up rebooting my router, after about the 3rd reboot of the router I stopped getting the error. This was happening on my iPhone 4 on iOS 6.0 as well as my fiance's iPod 4th gen on iOS 5.1.1.

Sep 19, 2012 5:10 PM in response to LugorIVby Migdad,I just clicked on Apple logo on the website that was pulled up and in the upper right corner the "cancel" button changed to "next". I clicked on the next, and that seemed to solve the issue.

Sep 19, 2012 5:09 PM in response to LugorIVby Sayuri Nitta,I think I figured it out. Thank goodness one of my apps needed updating....
Using a wifi connection that'll work for you (ie, I used my cell phone as a wifi hotspot), go into the App Store. Most likely, if you haven't gone there yet, the App Store will give you a pop-up asking you about installing four Apple apps (Podcasts, Find iPhone, iTunes U, Find Friends). I think this pop-up is causing the problem...iOS really wants to know if we'll download these apps or not for some reason.
I don't think it's necessary to download the four apps to fix the problem. (I downloaded them, but I decided to just keep "Find My iPhone" in the end.) I have a 4G iPad, and I put it into airplane mode, turned the wifi on and connected to the wifi hotspot that my iPad didn't like. I'm online, and my connection is fine now.

Sep 19, 2012 5:10 PM in response to LugorIVby macman357,I actually had this problem too. I got to my setting and made it forget my network but that didn't work. I then turned my phone off then back on again and everything worked fine.
