My iPhone 4 is using IOS 5.1.1 and I'm actually having this problem as well. I have avoided going to the new IOS specifically because I did not want to have problems like this... and yet here I am.

Anyways, just a data point to offer up here... I think this is not just an IOS 6 issue. I have not updated my iPhone 4 IOS version for a long time and my WiFi has worked great until sometime in the last week I started having these issues.

I have the same problem and Apple does not want to accept any responsibility. They replace my original iphone 4s with a new one - problem still exist and Apply is blaming everything else instead of they crappy new software. Todate it has cost me over 1000 dollars since I am self employed and lost many hours with tech support and re-setting phont to factory , going and waisting time at Apple store etc. I spoke to someone online at support who claim to be a supervisor - offer no solution, could not care about my lost ( i also paid 3 weeks ago to factory unlock my original) - the Apple stor refused to give a a unlocked phone. Now I had to pay again to unlock because I travel. The superivisor I spoke too does not care anything about the consumer - could not care about my lost and only keep offering more stupid suggestions to investigate the problem.

" Note - she mentioned that they have not had this problem with anyone else - my case is the first"

I do not think apple care at all about their customers except protecting their image. Apple superivisor I spoke too in my opion was rude and dont care.

I have the same issue, I updated my Iphone 4 to ios6 and now cannot connect to my home wifi! I tried reseting my phone back to it's original state and still nothing!! I finally went to the apple store and they told me that it is a hardware problem and it's basically not thier fault. They told me that they would replace it for a small fee $150.00!!!!! They clam that it has nothing to do with the update but I think thier full of it! C"mon apple do the right thing and take care of your customers!!!!

OK. NOTHING suggested on here worked for me - UNTIL I went into settings, then wi-fi, and the home network I couldn't connect to, I clicked "Forget this network." I restarted the phone, then went back into settings and clicked the network and got prompted to enter the passcode. THEN I clicked auto.

I tried to duplicate it and it worked a second time, and it worked for me when I clicked AUTO before I entered the passcode too.

Give it a shot! Good luck!

I've tried everything. Reset, reinstall, forget network, hard reset but if the network signal is weak its "unable to join network..." and I'm over it. My wife laughs at me coz she hasn't updated to ios 6 yet and she's not going to on her iPhone 4. I got an iPhone 5 iso 6.1 we can see the same networks, her iphone 4 iso 5.1.1 connects straight up too and mines unable. Mine use to when I was on ios 6.0.1 but since update from 6.0.1 to 6.0.2 then 6.1 crap!!! OVER IT!!!

Thanks HANK7777, from EVERYONE. This has been tried and may work for some as per 'APPLES' advice but it doesn't for most posting here or else like so many other posts that have post the reset option, we wouldn't be on here. Thanks anyway. Just to explain. I have 2 iphone 4's. One I updated to 6.1 the other on 5.1.1. The iphone 4 still on ios 5 no problems with wifi. The other updated to 6.1 drops in and out and has no wifi when 4 metres away from the router. Again the iphone still on ios 5.1.1 i can go outside and down the road a little. Atleast 20 metres. Yes we've done every update trick, reset you can think of. The only thing left is for apple to stop BS'ing us around and fix the ios flaw.

This worked a treat. Two days ago I couldn't get onto the wifi at an apartment we own where I stay while in the CBD on business. No success trying to use the iPh4 diagnostics to rectify (it always timed out). So I did a soft reset (orange light) and still no luck. Resolving to come back with a laptop to plug in with ethernet etc - I duly travelled "home" for the weekend. Tellingly, the home wifi didn't respond and became suspicious that it was the iOS issue everyone has been on about. I then dug around here and found Hank7777's advice. Will now have to go back to CBD apartment (with or w/out MBP) and do attempt a hard reset (hold pin in & power up) to get back to status quo.

I have tested all fixes once work for an hour connection is saying connected but dose nothing. I ordered this phone with WiFi so many mouths go by no fix, at least Microsoft fixes there problems ASAP when they screw something up. So many people left without WiFi they must be up to something and don’t give a crap, back to the real OS king MICROSOFT I go latter Crapple!!!!! %^#(&%$^ thanks for nothing. wake up people!
