Mouse auto click by self

Hi all,

Have a weird situation for the past weeks and it is bugging me too much and seeking help to rectify the problem.

Have just brought my iMac G5 20" last dec (last of G5 iMac) and was happily using till recently (about a month or more), my mouse start acting on me.

Have a habit of launching multiple applications as i multi-task between them, no problem since my days with my iBook. However, my mouse start to auto click itself and make working on my iMac too much a trouble.

Eg:
As i type on this window about my problem, my cursor might be of somewhere else like out of the Safari window. As i type my post, suddenly i lose focus of Safari and notice that the application in focus now is Finder instead! That is where my cursor is!

Another situation, as i am typing this post, i keep the mouse within Safari. Suddenly i lose focus on the message window and instead it went to other dialog box within the same page and that is where my cursor is!

Another senario, typing this post, i keep the cursor within this dialog box, as i type, my cursor went to the position where it position, making me correct my typing again and again as it jumps without me controlling it.

It is keeping me from being productive as i need to constantly watch my cursor before it do it's auto-clicking and switch to another applications or change my cursor's position.

Have enough of this issue, i tried few ways.
1. clean my might mouse - issue still unsolved.
2. change mouse - issue still unsolved. (was an old M$ mouse btw)
3. brought a new macally mouse - issue still exist.
5. verify disk - no issue with my hard disk.
7. repair of permission - issue still exist.
6. clean install Tiger twice - issue still persist.

I have called Apple hotline at my country and sadly, the help over the phone is not helping at all. All he keep saying is to re-install Tiger as chances of corruption of OS is there which cause the problem.

Please help... i do not wish to go back to my PC and leave this wonderful 20" aside for ornament purpose... 😟

To add on the details,

I have cleared possible interference that might have caused by my extension cords, KVM switch and moved my iMac alittle more distanced away from my UPS which powered up my iMac.
Still not helping after all the moves.

No one have bump into such situation?
Or maybe i just head down to the service centre instead.
Hate to part with my iMac for days.... 😟

Have you checked MM preferences to make sure they are at the correct settings?
When you tried the third party mouse did you set your mouse preferences?

System Preferences>Keyboard & Mouse>Mouse

If so, then I suggest that you contact Apple Support again however, this time ask to be transferred to Customer Relations. Explain your problem to them in detail.
You may need a MM replacement.

Good Luck.

Thanks for your suggestion.
I seriously doubt it is MM that cause the issue since i have tried with a used mouse which is working fine and brought a new macally mouse which is still not helping to rectify the issue.

Suspecting that the logicboard got problem. Some internal interference caused by something which i cannot isolate within my means.

Hooking the mouse to the USB port of my keyboard and direct to iMac's USB port is still the same.

This self clicking issue is driving me nuts. 😟

Thanks to all who have responded to my issue.
Very gladful for all possible suggestions to help me resolve this lousy situation of mine.

And after tons and tons of trying, i have finally found the cause of issue - my Macally USB 2.0 4 port hub which i used to extend more ports from my iMac.

As it was powered, i guess the hub cause some interference which trigger the weird behaviour. Strange enough that i have been using this hub since i got my iMac and only after 2 months of usage, it acted on me.

No more weird auto-clicking of my mouse right after i disconnect the hub.
All speakers, UPS, KVM, power extension cords are back beside my iMac without causing any interference.

Once again, to all who have contributed their views and advices, i sincerely thank you ...
