Do Not Disturb not letting Favorites through

I have my wife's phone number as my #1 Favorite and I tested the DND function today to see if she could get through - she could not.

Settings are correct:

DND: On

Scheduled: On (10-7)

Allow Calls From: Favorites

Repeated Calls: On

I tried with 2 different people on my Favorites list and both didn't work.

When I switch the "Allow Calls From" to 'Everyone' they get through.

When they call back the second time they get through.

Same thing happens when I set the scheduled DND and wait for it to activate and try then instead of the DND switch.

I've already restored my phone and it hasn't changed.

I copied the exact settings to my wife's phone and it works as inteded on hers.

The only feature that doesn't work is allowing from favorites.

Anyone else with this problem or a fix?

Yes, I can confirm. I'll cite your workaround here:

Hi,

I'm having the same issue but found a workaround:

I assume that your favourite contact is associated with a facebook contact, right? What you have to do is

1) disable "do not disturb" mode

2) delete the contact from your favorite list

3) edit the contact: delete the association with the facebook contact

4) re-add the contact phone number to the favorite list

5) optional: edit the contact, re-associate the contact to the related facebook contact

6) enable the "do not disturb" mode.

For me this worked, once a contact phone number is added to the favorite list while the contact is NOT linked to the related facebook contact will allow this contact to call you while in do not disturb mode.

If the contact phone number is added while it is linked to a facebook contact any calls from the number will be blocked.

This is a really stupid bug.

Ok, so I somehow fixed mine. This is what I changed, please let me know if this fixes yours too:

Go into each contact on your favorites and edit the name of the device (mobile, iPhone, home, etc).

I noticed all of mine were on 'mobile' and I changed them all to 'iPhone' and it worked. However, I didn't test before and after so it may have been coincidental.

Same problem on my iPhone 4. If "do not disturb" is activated and my favorites are set not to be muted, every call is muted.

This is rubbish. Muting all calls isn't a new feature. I was able to switch my phone off before iOS 6. How can Apple screw this so bad? I had that featureworking on my Sony Ericsson dumb phone 10 years ago.

Also the programmers should consider not to send a "busy signal" to muted callers. When someone calls me and my phone is busy, he obviously thinks I'm awake / reachable etc. So he might call again - within the 3 Minutes time frame for the urgent call function. This is not thought through.

"Go into each contact on your favorites and edit the name of the device (mobile, iPhone, home, etc)."

Nope, that does not fix anything for me. still not working.

The whole do not disturb function is buggy.

@MRCLR: I'm not sure I am getting your problem.

Why is your problem urgent? Why don't you just switch off "do not disturb" completely? Or is your Problem, that all calls are blocked even if it's switched off? That would be a problem, but diffrent from this thread.

This thread is about that favorites are blocked when DND is activated even if they shouldn't be. I'm curious if you mean the same.

Okay. That's excactly what this thread is for. And there is no fix yet. I bet we have to wait for the next update. Or even longer.

Maybe the repressing call setting might help you until then: If this is switched on, everybody comes through if he calls twice within 3 Minutes. So the first call from your husband will be blocked, but if he tries again instantly, your iphone will rang normal.

This is not a fix, but a workaround for your specific situation.

I'm glad I found this thread; I was wondering why my phone was rejecting allowed calls from my favorites.

I had a similar situation, except my contacts were linked between Google contacts and iCloud, rather than with Facebook. I just deleted all my iCloud contacts, which unlinked everything (I was just using iCloud as a backup anyways). I'm only using one contact list now, and calls from my favorites are coming in correctly through DND. It seems like the DND setup doesn't like linked contacts.

When I reimported my contacts into iCloud and switched the contacts "on", it relinked everything but calls from favorites were still coming in. Since this was getting confusing, I decided to leave the iCloud contacts unlinked.

Now that iOS 6.0.1 is out and I immediataley updated my 4s to find out that this bug was NOT fixed, I decided to completely erase my iphone and set it to factory default by itunes. So I restored as new phone, upgraded to 6.0.1, made all settings by hand (did not restore any backup), synched all my mail and contacts with Exchange and Facebook et voila: The dnd feature is working now as it should. All calls are blocked, except the ones which are on the favorites list.
