iOS6 - Terrible Maps - When is Google Maps coming back

I have just installed iOS6 and I am so disappointed with the new Maps application. Steve Jobs would have never allowed such a mediocre application to be included in the iOS.

Apple, please bring back Google Maps so that we can actually use for our real life!

Apology letter is a good start, but not good enough. The alternatives (Bing / web-based Google) etc. do not really hack it for those like me who were totally dependent on the Maps app and used it daily. Either Apple should allow a roll-back to iOS 5.1.1 for those that want it, or replace their app with the original Google app, if possible, until their own app is really ready for prime time. I agree with previous posts that this is a real turning point for Apple and how they respond will make or break them.

The maps r awful the pin was in the right spot but it told me to turn on the wrong road and then the road ended so disappointed the maps use to be so good now I can't trust it. How sad is that. Very ashamed to say I have an apple theses days won't recommend it to others that's for sure and my upgrade is 2 months away and if things don't improve I will be getting a different ph and it won't be the iph!

The apple maps is terrible to the point now that i have completely given up on using it. It was unable to navigate correctly to final destinations, taken down dead end streets and simply not being able to find locations.

Today, the only application that for me works in a similar manner for the navigation aspect is Maps+. It uses google maps and for me, looks exactly the same as google maps did. Obviously, it is not integrated into the os, and i dont know about the other features people used google maps for. Personally, i predominately used google maps for navigation and am very pleased to have found Maps+. Im dabbling with waze and dont mind it, but find it a little difficult to use as i dont seem to be able to work out how to see an overview of the trip im taking.

But the above is not pretending that im happy at all. My iphone 4s has suffered a massive downgrade in what apple called the upgrade to ios6. For me, ios5 had my iphone working perfectly well. I completely regret moving to ios6. Apple company it would seem have lost their way by putting customer experience anywhere but at the very top of their importance ladder. To release a terrible application to replace google maps is disgusting. They could have simply released apple maps and allowed google maps to stay on the phone. Users would have happily helped apple improve their mapping application by using both google maps and apple maps. But to force us to use this ill concieved piece of software has rubbed me up completely the wrong way.

Hope that Maps+ is helpful for anyone missing what i miss with google maps. It is free. There is a paid upgrade buy im not sure what it is for. All i need is to be able to type and address and have the route paved out with the zoom in zoom out feature exactly how it was in google maps. For me, the free version accomplishes this need.

I just spoke with Apple.

They are saying that they are working hard on an update to the Apple map ( ilost )

As the phone doesn't hold the map internally, an update wouldn't do anything, would it ?

Got the senior supervisor. They must love these calls 🙂

He told me that they are monitoring the calls in categories. What he basically said was that he was not getting that many calls on this subject. The more calls the more get's done to the issue.

So please take some time and give them a call

I am so disappointed with the maps. I have an iPhone 4. The maps did nothing but ruin my old maps (no 3d maps, no Siri). No improved features etc. They should put a warning for iPhone 4 users that upgrading to the new iOS will not improve anything with maps, but just destroy its functionality. This is horrible as its something I use constantly and now have to rely on the laggy web based google maps.
