Yes, I got lost and it cost me time and money. How does this make me a liar or fool? In any case this should not concern you since (1) you don't even use ios6 (2) the only feature you care about is the vibration mode.

OK, so you're not a liar, just a fool. I have used iOS6. My wife regrettably upgraded to it. Debating a 4 year old is quite amusing.

If you like the idea of turn by turn navigation so much why did you act like a fool, " ... missed my appointments, got lost, costing me time and money ... ". For a few dollars you could have invested in a very good turn by turn navigation app. You would not have gotten lost, not have lost time and not have lost money. Instead you rather blame Apple for your own foolishness.

Unfortunately this brings up a whole different slant of the debate. I live opposite from a pub in Brighton UK. This pub changed hands early this year and was renamed Noble House, prior to this it was called Jamaica Inn. I wasn't surprised that the name was wrong on the new Apple maps, I was surprised that despite the correct address being on the info window the pub was 3 streets away and on the opposite side of a main road. I reported both problems I.e. pin in wrong place and info is incorrect giving the new pub name, phone number and URL address. 2 weeks later I check it. The pub has moved further away on the wrong side of the road and is now called The Golden Cross a name it had over 7 years ago.

This app is so wrong in so many ways but fundamentally a Map should direct you to places, if it cannot do that then it's not a functioning map. I've never actively discouraged people from updating their phone before and have now met many iPhone users who are not planning to update. This is a worrying sign for Apple, the phrase It just works is now history.

Yeah You listened to the iOS keynote and believed them like a fool, and you didn't spend even more money on another app that makes Apple more money like a fool. So yeah don't be foolish and trust Apple just give Apple loads more money that'll make everything better!

We do have to understand the fact that google maps was not built overnight. it takes decent amount of time for a maps app to develop. and it cant develop fully by testing it in a laboratry in cupertino, as maps needs real time user data and feedback at real locations. thats the reason apple realesed this half baked cake. I don think even steve could have done much abt this. But i am sure apple maps will develop and develop much faster than google maps did. right now, all we can do is Waaaaiiiiittttt... :-)

Get Maps+. It IS Google Maps except no StreetView. In fact I like it more as you can view Landscape, something we couldn't do with the original Google Maps app itself.

Indeed. It took Google about 7 years to develop Google Maps to where it is now.

Abrasha, I think you have it backwards. It was Google's delays in implementing features like turn-by-turn directions on iPhone that lead to Apple developing their own app. Since Google wants to support Android (their own system) over iPhone, it is natural that they would not want to make the iPhone version as good.

Gogole and Apple compete in many areas. This gets in the way of cooperation.

What makes you think Apple would allow a stand alone Google Maps app in the App Store? Why would Apple dump an inferior version of Google Maps only to allow a third party stand alone app from Google that will still be as crippled as the old one? Purely rumor and wishful thinking on the part of the drama queens here.

Why would Apple allow a native Google Maps App? Because if they didn't, a lot of iOS 6 users would be infuriated. I would not assume that the native Maps App that Google is working on would be as crippled as the old Apple Maps. It looks like it may be more similar to the Android version (vector based). This is based on info from the developer Ben Guild http://benguild.com/post/33553036078/leaked-screenshots-of-native-google-maps-al pha-for.

Maninhat, you are not telling the truth. I am looking at the same town on google maps and it is as clear as a bell.

What, all six of you? Every survey out there indicates iOS 6 users don't care about the maps app. For most it works just fine, better than the one it replaced. Only the OCD axe grinders posting daily here have their panties in a knot.

IKrupp you are going to look foolish very soon when Google releases their App and it hits the top of the popular download list. As a matter of fact your blind obedience to your Apple loyality oath looks.....interesting.......when even Tim Cook recommended that people use other mapping apps instead of their own. Give that, perhaps we can all accept that Apple's map app is crap. I and many, many others are looking at altenative eco systems because of it.
