Well if u ask me "find my friends" is freaking weird....... But again I have no problem with my maps navigation in off by maybe two feet. When it finds my location in my house it it gets me on the right part of the house. It really accurate. Also u gotta remember that apple has been hiding that they where doing maps for years... Give them time

I Find all you clames weird. Im fron North Carolina USA and had no problem with navagatioion.... it was simple as " Siri give me directions To RDU"  She thought for a moment confirmed where i wanted to go, opened maps and all i had to hit its the little return looking button and i had clear directions all the way there, in fact i had my real gps running juist in case and the iphone took me a quicker way. The only thing that i see a problem is the 3D..... stuff looks distorted. thats it!

agree.  i live in charlotte, nc usa and the new apple maps is much better than the google maps from before.  the vector based imaging system in the new maps provides real time performance and is extremely, clear,  fast and fluid.  it makes google maps feel choppy and blocky in comparison (have not had a chance to update my iPad).  the new siri navigation feature is also very accurate and even better than most dedicated gps systems i have used in the past.  hopefully, the international zones will be updated soon... but for me here in us, i have no desire to go back to google maps.

Last time I looked the us holds most of the market for apples iPhone. Again Apple was hiding their map idea for year now that its live they can do a lot more things for their maps. Give apple credit they are dropping google! That's a very big step and as it did google, it will take them time too work out the corks.

    "Give them time"

Actually they alredy had the time and I now don't want to lose mine. If they know the app is in alpha stage, they should continue using license from Google to refine own product. I think loss of angry customers will cost more than license from Google. IMHO in the future Apple can only compete with some paid Navi apps, not a Google.

Tim Cook and company decieved the world with all that marketing talk of the world's most advanced operating system, when maps was a downgrade, the user interface is terrible, the features are very limited and for subway they throw you to a different app. I love apple products but this map app is useless. Tim Cook & Company shame on you for charging a premium on an inferior product. Sometimes in war, you have to learn how to lose and Google right now makes a way better product. Steve Jobs must be turning in his grave with the garbage you at Apple are delivering.

I'm sorry if you drop apple for a simple maps app that there are hundreds of then you are just stupid. Apple will compete with google an they will do very well... And you gave them 3 days it takes longer than 3 days to fix stuff. Knowing apple when hundreds complain they make sure to fix that ASAP

To be honest it's not garbage I like it a lot I like the user interface. I hate droid phones they suck.... Apple honestly might turn less innovative products for a few years then do what apple does and give us something amazing. I see apple trying to slow down their sales because is one a business technique. Apple doesn't wanna put other cell company's outa business

MapQuest is available free as a double check until Apple works out the kinks (at least in the U.S.). Actually, I should have used this previously with Google which took me to the wrong place multiple times.

Yes actually I think people just expected more, google maps sucked. Apple maps is good I like it it works and as you said their are other apps like "waze"

  • cherylwoz Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

in addition to it having incorrect locations, etc., it also does not have the bus stop icons, like google maps did.  this was VERY helpful, b/c i didn't have to look at one app (maps) & then go to my public transportation app to find out what busses were around, like i do now.

exactly.  like siri people are "missing the forest through the trees here".  the core 2D vector imaging is a breakthrough along with the C3 3D graphics are which is ground breaking.  they make google maps and google earth look like tinker toys.  international locations/errors are just a matter of updating database longitude and longitude settings.  it will get much better over time the more it is used, feeback is provided and it updated.  not to mention it removes all the google privacy rape and adware push.

Check out Joe Nocera in the NY Times this morning: he's all over maps: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/22/opinion/nocera-has-apple-peaked.html?hp

Agree. Wish I could go back to IOS 5.1.1. on my wife's iphone 4S. This is a major failure on Apple's part--releasing an app that wasn't close to being ready for prime time. It just cheapens the release of the iphone 5. Glad I didn't upgrade my iphone 4 to IOS 6. Thought about upgrading to iphone 5 but think I'll sit this one out until Apple gets it act together.

you mean the same "new york times" that broke the so-called story on poor working conditions where later it was determined that the basis of the article was completely  fabricated by the source himself.  the new york times is nothing more then sensatiionlist journalism on par with the enquirer or the star... trash entertainment.

Blah blah blah. You mean poor working conditons at Foxconn? That was fabricated? I call BS.
