Q: iOS 6 WiFi option is GREYED OUT (unrelated to iOS 6 WiFi connectivity issues)

It has to do with the phone temperature. I was having the same issue as you.

My Wifi and Bluetooth option was disabled (grayed out) for a few months. I tried

hard reset and I even reset my network settings in general. I also restored my iPhone 4's

to iSO 6 because I had 5.1.1 when I had this issue. Now I am on iOS 6.0.1

You need to leave your phone somewhere that's cold.

In a freezer for example:

1. DFU mode. Hold down the sleep/home button till phone is completely off.

2. Leave phone in freezer for 20-30 mins.

3. Turn phone back on and check.

This worked on iPhone 4S so far. I am not sure about the older models.

I'm going to try this and hope it will work. The trick with the blow dryer didn't work. My now (almost) useless phone has no wifi for almost 2 months already since I updgraded to 6.0. -_-

MAC code reset for me did not work.

I did however turn off my wifi extender and all is now good. Not sure what issues this is causing as I have not chance to investigate it yet. Seems strange all other devices are ok with the extender.

I tried this freezer trick and it SORT OF worked. I can now switch on and off my wifi button. The only thing is, it could not scan any wifi networks! :(((((((((((((((( I dont want to reset the settings again, thinking it might disable the wifi button again. :|

I tried this freezer trick as well. I was UTTERLY surprised that it actually brought Wifi back.

As @Kenishialalamentioned, it lists the networks but can't connect. Later it won't list any networks anymore. This was fixed on my particular iPad by resetting network settings. Again.

Wifi works now, even after rebooting, airplane mode, etc. BUT... Bluetooth does not!

When I select Bluetooth I get a spinning wheel. Nothing more. Rebooting, DFU rebooting, resetting settings, none of these work.

As a last resort I could try to completely restore the iPad, again. Maybe updating it to 6.0.1 with Wifi/Bluetooth not working broke something?

That is exactly what happened to my phone. I did a reset on my network settings to try if it will fix the problem and BAM! Greyed out wi-fi again. :|

Wow! 17 pages of people having the same problem as me! Glad I'm not alone. Tried everything people have suggested, except for putting the phone in the freezer. Not going to do that even if it is supposed to work. Sadly, it's off to the Genius Bar to see what they can accomplish. It seems that the only viable solution I've seen so far is a hardware replacement in lieu of a software fix.

This "Freezer Therapy" just doesn't make sense to me! 

For one, the problem was not triggered by temparature.  It was an after-effect of a software upgrade and as such I consider it reasonable to conclude it is a software problem.  What Apple needs to do is to find the bug, fix it and release another upgrade or a patch.  So far, they haven't exhibited a customer-friendly reaction time on this challenge.

I congratulate those who got their handsets replaced.  However, that's not a sustainable solution and the wait is dragging.  It's worse that Apple hasn't deemed it fit to make a statement that rekindles customers' expectations.  They probably are "working hard" at it, but then, when you wink in the dark, you are the only one who knows what you're doing. Trust me, it's beginning to feel like Apple is too sure of its place in the industry.

I put the phone in DFU, then I put a bag in the freezer half an hour. Half an hour in the sun. I turned and I turned the wifi and bluethoot.

i tried that too, and yes it worked... for 10 minutes
