Sep 20, 2012 11:31 AM in response to Trapdoresothby macsk0709,
This is the problem I have. The IOS 6 was done OTA. Itunes was 10.7. It's a 4S. I have tried resetting, restoring, everything except moving back 5.1.1. I even disabled Siri, location services, Bottom line, all communications is done via celluar and Wifi can NOT be turned on. (hence the grey area - see pic below). All help would be appreciated if someone has a fix. -

Sep 20, 2012 12:24 PM in response to sgoldhornby Trapdoresoth,I called Apple Support, they are having me do a full reset of my phone...blah. That *****. I'm going to give it a try. Right now backing up 20 gigs of Pics/Vids off my phone then I'll give it a shot.
Not only am I doing a full reset, but they also had me fiddle with my Sync settings in iTunes (when connected to iPhone).
Under Info, make sure "Sync Contacts with..., Sync Calendars with, and Sync Notes with... are all checked and hit "Apply" at the bottom right of screen. If they are already checked, uncheck and recheck them. Not sure what this is all about, I think this is what the guy early in this thread was getting at (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4313031?start=0&tstart=0) I thought he was talking about doing this within the iPhone and not in iTunes.
I'll report back when I have this all done and let you know.

Sep 20, 2012 12:46 PM in response to Trapdoresothby woodmeister50,Is it model dependent? I have a 64 gig 4S w/AT&T and
did the iTunes/USB update and all works well with Wi-Fi
or Cellular, enabling or disabling, as well as just plain
operating without issue.
Do particular models perhaps have more issues than others?
Which versions do you folks have?

Sep 20, 2012 1:17 PM in response to woodmeister50by sgoldhorn,I have 64GB AT&T 4S as well, OTA iOS 6 update over WiFi. I've read in the other thread that someone who did iTunes/USB update instead of OTA had same No WiFi issue.

If your wifi is greyed out:
you need to go to the apple store. You're wifi chip has expired! Wifi chip experation dates were checked upon the new software, that is why some iPhones still work and others don't. They will replace it for you free of charge (don't quote me on this). It was free for me.
I myself have an iPhone4S and they told me exactly this.
