Photo sort order changed with ios 6

Not fixed on a WinPC + IP5 with iOS6.01.

Very frustrating as I had hope that the latest iOS may have addressed this widespread issue.

Where is the legendary Apple post-sale service on what is a smallish but very annoying and hugely visible problem ?

I have sceenshoted the last couple of pages of this Discussion and sent them to the Apple engineer working on my case for this issue. I don’t know if they will read them but it can’t hurt. Like they say, “the squeaky bearing gets oiled first.”

Problem seems resolved for me.

I updated to iPhoto 9.4.2 and synced the phone. No change.

Then in iPhoto clicked View-Sort Photos-By Title (even though it was already checked) and synced the phone. Photos are now sorted by Title again on the phone.

I only had to do that once, not for every album as Lauriew had to.

I did not update iOS 6 yet, still running 6.0 on iPhone4S

There is a new iphone update as of today, those with iphones may wish to update!

I agree, it is the iphoto update which fixed my photo issues. The format of choosing assending or descending and whether to sort by Date or other choices is by Album, which I prefer anyway!

I have iphoto and an ipad.

before the latest updates iphoto had them newest on top but the ipad had them newest on bottom. the order was correct otherwise

then the updates flipped this back but the photos were out of order. like newer ones were above older ones

removing the photos from the ipad and readding them didn't change this

deleting the photos from the album and reimporting them as duplicates didn't help

I then changed the sort order to be by filename and synced it was correct on the ipad that way.

but then changing the sort back to by date it wouldn't change the sort order again. it was stuck as by filename

with the photos sorted by name in iphoto I unchecked the album in itunes and synced so the photos were removed, and then readded it and synced them back on (only ~100 photos so it went quick)

interetingly it put them on by filename sort order this time.

so the problem it definently in ios. it's holding onto bad sort data somehow

I turned the ipad off, turned it back on and then resynced.

it went back to the incorrect by date order it was originally with 6.0.1.

I then killed the photos app manually from the ipad and synced again. no change

I'd say there's two issues going on, stuck sort orders and incorrect sort orders.

alright, I've got it figured out.

when sorting by date iphoto shows by photo taken date.

the ipad is showing by import date instead

have you sorted by "date added" in the windows folder and see if that matches the photo sort order on the ipad?

I've just read through all of these postings and am just praying that ios6 will fix this soon. I have a macbood pro with mountain lion, all the latest updates (even 6.0.1) and have tried to sync many times with i photo, aperturer and with files on my desktop. Until ios6 all of my photos have always stayed in order on my ipad and updated in order with any change to the photos name. I've spent tons of time at the genius bar and on the phone with ios support and nothing has worked (deleting cache etc...) An ios6 expert says that it now syncs only by date. I paid alot of money for a 32bg iflashdrive as a possible workaround (non refundable) and when I got it, found out that it only works with ios5. Now I'm looking at buying an iusbport as a possible work around but am not sure it its worth trying.

I'm just praying that ios6 will fix this because I can't do any business like this-----with the way that I've been helping my customers for the last 3 years from my organized photos and organized scanned in inventory photos on my i pad. Now it and my iphone is totally useless.

I would love to see any how happy any apple person would be if their car decided to change gears in random order instead of 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc... Without order, nothing works!!!!

Hey all I have a MacBook Pro 13 running Mountain Lion... Had issue all of you are until I updated iOS and iPhoto. Took a few attempts but eventually all my albums went into the correct order in iTunes and everything was back to normal. Hope this helps someone.

I am using Win 7 PC + Ipad and have the same sorting issue, using the Apples Photos App (at the moment iPhoto puts them in correct order). It also affects other photo apps e.g. Cooliris.

Is this a bug or another example of "Apple knows best" ....... very frustrating.

And no, I do not want to sort the imported photos on the Ipad maually.

i don't know what order the photo's are sorted, seems to be none of the previous sorting orders like, name, date created etc. please help !!!
