Tried to update to iOS 6...now my phone is stuck.

Okay, so about an hour and a half ago I started to update my iPhone 4 through iTunes. After about 10 minutes my phone changed to the "connect to iTunes" screen and then wouldn't do anything. Now I can't get it detected in iTunes at all, so I can't restore it. I don't know what to do. This is so frustrating, I was just trying to update it...anyone have any ideas? It's been like this for a while.

iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1

Hey Ricako, I am having the exact same problem with the same errors on my 3GS. Some people have said that it is a hardware problem, but if that were the case, then why has it happened to so many right when they tried to upgrade to 6? Either way, I now have no working phone and will be calling apple to hopefully find a solution.

I had the exact same problem, stuck on the screen since I tried the upgrade. I tried everything for 3hrs and found Method 1 in this answer to work. Download iREB r5 and follow the instructions in Method 1.

This just brought my phone back to life (everything still there) and out of the "connect to iTunes" screen, but still not recognised by iTunes. When I try to connect iTunes says "iphone cannot connect to itunes apple mobile device service not started". I'm leaving that challenge for tomorrow.

Ok, iPhone is fixed and working. Honestly, I think it was just a waiting and time thing. I spent 5+ hours last night doing everything from turning off security, trying different versions of things and every other possible thing I found on the web.

I decided to just do some work today and keep iTunes running and my iPhone plugged in while doing everything. My phone would reset on it's own every once in awhile. I was having Chrome issues and restarting my computer randomly. Then suddenly a message popped up saying that the iPhone was in "Restore mode" and needed to be restored, about 15 HOURS LATER. I restored it and then choose my last backup when they asked to restore it. It has taken a few hours (I have the 64GB, with only about 10GB free) and I still have a little bit more to go for everything to be synced.

It calls, messages, al folders are in place and everything seems to be fine for now. Sooooooo, in the end it just seems like keeping it plugged in worked. I saw some people had similar experiences, so it may just be time in the end.

I had this problem yesterday, and I followed all of the troubleshooting guides that I could find. iTunes wouldn't recognize that there was a device plugged in. Today I took it to the Apple store and they plugged it into their computers there, and after 10 mins I walked out with a functioning iPhone. The guy helping me said that it could've been that too many people were trying to download the update at once, so the download was only partially completed and iTunes couldn't restore. Good luck everybody!

Sadly three days and still no iphone working... tried these things but no help 😢 Day off tomorrow so off the the apple store, hopefully they will be able to fix it, I am usually slow in doing these updates, but the rest of the family had done theirs so I thought oh I'll do mine, (all done at different times). Connected to try to restore has been connected all day today and most of yesterday. before I do the nest one I will make sure I check these discussions first, sometimes it pays to be slow to get around to things. Any more ideas please??

Disconnect it from iTunes. If it is stuck then shut it down > press and hold home button > connect it to itunes. Now it should show "connect to itunes" screen on your iphone. On itunes it will show that your iphone is connected to itunes in "restore, safe or whatever" mode 😝 Try to restore it.. 🙂 cheers. Helped for me and hope this applies for you too.. ^_^

Thank you tried this but to no avail.... I did make a trip to the Apple store this afternoon, (I might add that while I was there I saw 2 or 3 others come in with the same problem) and 25 minutes later my phone was working, just like magic 😮 However lost all my photos, very sad but guess I have to remember to back up before trying to update 😊

What do you suggest for someone experiencing this "Connect to iTunes" screen problem when they do not have access to iTunes on a computer? (the installation of iTunes on our laptop is corrupted and appears impossible to fix).

My wife tried upgrading her 3GS to iOS6 and it's stuck on the Connect to iTunes screen, won't respond to anything.

Thoughts appreciated for a solution that doesn't involve connecting to iTunes on a computer.

Tried to update to iOS 6...now my phone is stuck.
