"None" Text Tone Still Vibrates

In iOS 5, I was able to set the text tone for a contact to None and not have my phone vibrate or make noise regardless of whether my phone was silenced or not. When I wasn't on-call for work, my phone wouldn't make any noise or vibrate when receiving a text message from our paging system. In iOS 6, when I set my text tone to None for the paging system contact, my phone still vibrates when I receive a text message from that contact. The only way to prevent my phone from vibrating is to turn off vibrate on ring. However, when I switch my phone to silent mode however, my phone vibrates when I receive a text message from our paging system. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to make iOS 6 function like iOS 5 and honor the None text tone?

I just tried turning off vibrate for my text tone but my phone still vibrates when I receive a text message from our paging system. Before making this change I had tried to turn the vibration for this contact to None and that didn't solve the problem either. I would like to remove the ringtone but I don't see None as an option.

Thanks for the suggestion. Any other thoughts?

I am having the same issue since the iOS 6 update. Under the contact, I have changed both vibration and text tone to None. However, there is no "silent" option for the ringtone, which I suspect may be the culprit, in part.

I get GroupMe messages from work very often, so it is quite annoying to feel a vibration for every single message. Hence why I would like to turn it off!

I THINK I just figured it out... I was having the same problem with my Twitter texts (40404) I just wanted the vibration off the one contact... With the number I had saved into the contacts I changed it from 'Mobile' and created a new one called "twitter"...thus taking off the option for a "text tone" and "text vibration" once I changed it back to mobile from the custom label I got the option to turn off the text tone and vibration. The sound is still an issue since there isn't a "none" option for a ringtone. I hardly ever turn my phone on ring so its not really a problem for me. Hope this helps someone!!

This is driving me wild! I cant get the phone to stop vibrating on text messages! What's worse is that the phone seems to default to the "quick" vibrate pattern during an open conversation in Messages.

I've tried setting it to None, then to None in the phone contacts, and finally trying a custom vibration pattern. It does not help.

Hopefully there is a fix soon.
