I have an iPhone4 and a Pioneer AVH-P2400BT car unit.  I've upgraded to IOS 6.  The update (from what I've tried and what I can tell) is NOT reversible.

Here's what I've found happening between the iPhone & Pioneer for bluetooth streaming audio:

    1.  The track/artist info no longer displays.

    2.  The track skip buttons no longer function.

    3.  The pause/play button no longer functions.  It may SEEM like it does, but it simply mutes the audio, the content continues to play (silently) on the iPhone.

    4.  The content no longer resumes when the vehicle is started.

    5.  The content will pause when the vehicle is turned off, but a couple of seconds continue (silently) on the iPhone.

    6.  If content is paused by the vehicle being turned off, it will resume playing on the iPhone speakers following an incoming phone call, whether answered or not.  (This can be a little embarrassing, depending on the content of your prefferred podcasts! )

Sounds like the same problem ... I have a Pioneer AVH-P3400BH, an iPhone 4S and an iPad 2.  Prioir to IOS 6 (5.1.1 to be exact), the bluetooth audio controls and the ID3 tag information on the car stereo worked fine on both the iPhone and iPad.  I also have an aftermarket module hooked up the factory steering wheel controls which also worked prior to IOS 6 (now only the volume works).  When I tether the iPhone/iPod with the stereo's iPod cable (in iPod or App Mode), all works's only the Bluetooth audio streaming that's an issue.  Phone calls over Bluetooth seem un-affected by all of this.  I've worked with Apple support and have tried resetting the Network Settings along with performing a Reset All Settings (with another iPhone 4S, after it was also upgraded from 5.1.1 to 6).  I've also reached out to Pioneer as well, but they are still looking into it.  So far no solutions and nobody has acknowledged repsonsibility.  Next step is to try my wife's Razr Maxx.  Not sure that will prove anything to either Apple or Pioneer anyway, even though it's obvious to me that this is an Apple issue.  I hate being stuck in the middle like this!!!!

I have the same exact issue with my Alpine stereo and my iPhone4 since I upgraded to IOS6..  Just bought the stereo in February and have just loved the BT Audio functionality with my iPhone4.

Now it's gone.  Just like you, all the stereo controls no longer work, and track info won't display.  it still plays on the stereo, but I have to control all functions with the iPhone itself.  Talk about distracted driving!

I sure hope Apple fixes this problem.  I love everything about my iPhone, but this is souring me pretty quickly.

Several people have mentioned that they'd like to revert back to iOS 5.1.1 but that it's not possible.  I posted this information earlier in the thread, but I'll repeat that if you have an iPhone 4s, you can go to the Apple store and tell them that you have an issue with Bluetooth with iOS 6, and since Apple won't let you revert the operating system, they will need to give you a new 4s that still has iOS 5.1.1 on it.  I got a new phone this way based on the 1-year limited warranty not being expired yet, so anybody who wants to exchange their 4s for a new one needs to do so in the near future.

So same thing happened to me with Alpine device - apple technician told me to contact my alpine provider and that this issue has nothing to do with the upgraded software because its working fine?!?!? They also told me this doesn't warrant a replacement and no way can I downgrade. I am livid especially as I've been with apple for only 6 months and only have had my sound system for 2 weeks!!! :(

I have an iPhone 4S which worked completely to my satisfaction while playing music via bluetooth with IOS 5.1.1.  However after updating to IOS 6.0 i noticed there were periodic skips/misses/dropouts in the music every minute or so while using blue tooth.  I tried using a variety of music players but the net effect was still the same (intermittent signal loss).  Then i decided to disable the WIFI interface... Bam!!! That fixed the problem... Now i can play music via bluetooth all day without any periodic hiccups... This is my no means a viable solution for all, but it does point to the source of the problem...(IOS 6.0 update).  Im sure many stream music via wifi so this solution will not work in their case.  Apple needs to duplicate this prolem back home an get to work on finding a more realistic solution for this bump in the road.

Just wanted to add my voice to say I have the problem too.

I also agree that turning off WiFi can help.

The iPhone WiFi and Bluetooth radios have battled since the beginning of time.  If you want to see the battle, stream some audio over bluetooth and try to do a bandwidth speed test over wifi at the same time.  On iOS 5 I used to get 2Mbps with audio streaming and 12Mbps with BT off.  But Bluetooth would NOT falter on iOS 5 and the bandwidth test would always complete.  On iOS 6, you may or may not even complete a bandwidth test, which is why iOS 6 WiFi issue threads are growing even larger than these Bluetooth threads.

I don't think this is a stereo model issue.  I think it's an Apple issue.  My iphone 4 no longer allows me to control music via my Mazda's sound system with bluetooth.  Someone suggested turning bluetooth on/off on your phone. I hope Apple fixes this soon!  I don't know if the phone works for receiving calls through my system, yet--haven't tested

I contacted Subaru, they have no issued any update nor are they working on any update, but there is a solution. On the vehicle there is two ways of setting up the bluetooth, via the head unit, and via the voice commands on from the steering wheel controls. I tried to do it according to the voice command and all is completely cured. Iphone 5 automatically connects to my bluetooth audio and shows tracks and everything, fully functional. Hope the rest of you guys are able to figure it out! Weird that it would work on some manufacturers, but not others. Maybe subaru was already ahead of the game on the bluetooth software.

I have the same Pioneer DEH-8400BT all the same problems as PROH03, can't answer or make calls any longer handsfree....My phone and Pioneer receiver were outstanding until iOS6 update!  Not real happy I just installed my receiver in Aug.

Lorenzo, it sounds like you have a bad device. I can use Bluetooth and wifi together just fine. You should bring the phone into Apple. My problem continues to be the Bluetooth car control features.

    Ok, as this thread says....

bluetooth music issues after iOS6 update

If you have an iPhone 5 YOU DIDN'T UPDATE!!!

So far we can confirm aftermarket A2DP/AVRCP issues with Pioneer/Alpine/Clarion/Kenwood. Anyone have a JVC unit?

    Confirm OEM issues with VW/Mazda....

Absolutely no offence to anyone who has posted their issues here nor to anyone else who has the same frustratrating issue but seriously can we please leave future posts to simple but NEW issues? The person to explain they have an issue with their unit that is already mentioned deserves an uppercut!

So I just wanted to give an update with the OEM systems. A friend just got the new 2013 Impreza and Bluetooth audio works perfectly with iOS 6 on my iPhone 4.

On my Pioneer AVH-2400BT it doesn't work at all. Not sure what to think honestly.

how did you manage to roll back to ios 5 from ios 6?  I'm having problems with my bmw recognizing my phone and pairing in bluetooth ever since updating to ios 6 on my iphone 4.  I have a 2008 bmw 3 series.
