Q: bluetooth music issues after iOS6 update

Ok, i just updated to iOS6 today.  I jump in my car to drive home, and now my radio ( pioneer svh-p3400BH) no longer shows any sont info when bluetooth streaming.  I used to get artist, album, and song info.   Also, when i connect it via USB, i no longer get genra infr ( pop/rock, classical, ect).

Any ideas?  if this a firmware on Pioneers side, or is the blue tooth messed up in iOS6?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6

I too have the exact same problem with my Pioneer AVH-P2400BT car stereo.

No song information. No respnse to Next/Previous track button.

It's really unfortunate. Everything was so perfect!

Just got off the phone with Apple support. They said they are aware of the issue, but the most likely fix will be firmware updates coming from the device manufacturers. In my case, with Volkswagen, that could take up to 6 months to happen. So, most likely, I will be officially ditching Apple in favor of Android. So ******* depressing. What a ******* joke.

If this is true, then I'm out too.

If this requires updates on the stereo/headset side of things, I am NOT spending another 6 months fighting with Volkswagen to get another firmware update. It's just not happening. This is 100% fixable by Apple, if they choose to do so. Backwards compatibility is nothing new. It worked on iOS 5.

That all depends; if the standards changed and were updated, Apple has to change to ensure future compatibility as well.

Or, to put it another way, device manufacturers don't update their firmware to address Apple bugs, they update them because the standard changed.

If it will be fixed by a firmware update by the device manufacturers, it's not Apple's issue, as frustrating as it is.

It is Apple's issue. Backwards compatibility is not hard. There is ZERO reason it can't support AVRCP 1.4 as well as AVRCP 1.3.

I agree KingOfLimbs12, even if they are not compatable with each other; make the version a selectable option.

Anyway, for what its worth I've just downgraded to 5.1.1. and after the initial horror of still experencing the same issues, I cleared and re-paired the device, then all functionality has returned to normal.

Am glad I didn't go ahead and preorder a iphone 5 (was waiting to see what deal I could maybe get playing one carrier against another) now because this is a dealbreaker for me.

Yeah, this is a major deal breaker. I unfortunately already ordered my 5... I guess I'll have to list it on CL and see how much I can get for it.

Unfortunately I have the same exact problem.

    Uses- beats wireless.

It seems to be skipping around the music/not playing at all for some moments.

To me it definitely seems like a bug on Apple's side of things. Bluetooth that was working to spontaneously stop working through an update is a huge deal.

    Please fix it Apple!!!

4th Gen iPod Touch/Clarion VZ400 Same issue-no bluetooth controls, no iPod out. Regardless of whether or not it is not apple's issue, this is a negative for anyone who owns these stereos and was looking to buy an iOS 6 device. Apple should, at least, have some official comment on the issue (perhaps "we're not going to offer any help with this problem because we have to upgrade to new standards. Sorry."). Probably not important enough to them, though. Shame. I was really looking to go back to the iPhone, but this issue, coupled with their inferior new Maps app, really has to be a dealbreaker. Luckily not locked into an iPhone. My GNex has 99 problems, but a Bluetooth ain't one.

Start emailing the support and sales for your stereos, go to the shop where you bought it and tell them they dont work on ios6 .  Put the presure on from all sides.  When the manufactures hear they dont work and iphone users wont buy they decks then we might get somewhere.

Apple has anounced this for a long time to all involved companies. It is not Apple's fault that Volkwagon didn't care to update their software or hardware.  I fail to see how that is Apples fault.

    @Keiichi_K

When did apple anounce this to all involved companies?

Is there any benifit to the direction they have chosen to take? More functionality? If so, then apple need to release some information very quickly.

I think they are far more likely to lose consumers to Android over this issue due to p***ing off millions of consumers and thousands of manufactures both OEM and aftermarket.

    Just my 2cents

If it's a change in the Bluetooth specs, Android phones will need to change, too.
