Q: bluetooth music issues after iOS6 update

Ok, i just updated to iOS6 today.  I jump in my car to drive home, and now my radio ( pioneer svh-p3400BH) no longer shows any sont info when bluetooth streaming.  I used to get artist, album, and song info.   Also, when i connect it via USB, i no longer get genra infr ( pop/rock, classical, ect).

Any ideas?  if this a firmware on Pioneers side, or is the blue tooth messed up in iOS6?

    iPhone 4S / iOS 6.0.1 / MacBook Pro w Mountain Lion / Pioneer AVH-P2400BT

I am impatient and did the EU update.

According to the EU instructions, I was to ignore a particular error at the end. I experienced the error and ignored it. Before that, when I connected my MBP to the head unit via bluetooth, a folder opened up with 2 subfolders. I tried to drag the update file and got a permission issue. It's possible that I missed the 'release' folder or whatever it was named. But I just opened that folder and dragged the update over.

I was lucky (or incredibly skilled) enough that it worked on the first try. I'm not motivated to try again and install the US update at this point. Others have posted its the same update. I'm not sure if there are any compelling reasons one way or the other to bother. I imagine it would be fine, but wouldn't make a difference because everythings working pretty well as it is.

So I was still having the issue where my iphone wasnt pairing after upgrading the firmware on my AVH-P4400BH.  After waiting on hold for 30mins waiting for a Pioneer rep, I finally got through to tech support.  We went through 10 different troubleshooting points with no success.  According to him, I was doing everything right and that as a last ditch, I should grab a friends iPhone and try to pair it with my head unit.  The theory being, if it would not pair, there may be something wrong with the hardware in my head unit, if the second phone did pair, it would suggest an issue with the hardware or OS on my iPhone.

Well, after work, we tried out the theory.  My coworker tried pairing to my stereo and bam, it paired immediately! We could make calls, stream music flawlessly.   I tried with my iPhone 4S running OS6.1 and nothing.  The Pioneer tech said to make sure I click the arrow to the right of the head unit in the iPhone blue tooth and forget the device but I HAVE NO ARROW and NO OPTION TO DO SO!!!  Since the ugrade to OS6.1, this arrow has disappeared!  Im also no longer able to connect to any secured wifi networks.

    Has anyone else experienced this????

Did you try a hard reset on the phone? Hold the home button and top button down at the same time for ten seconds until the Apple logo shows, wait for it to restart and see what happens.

Is their anyway to stop the Pioneer HU from automatically starting the iphone music app.  Believe me I am delighted to get the AVRCP stuff working again, but this is a little annoying at times.

Select a source other than Bluetooth.

Thanks Rick.  That is easy.  I was just hoping that their was a setting either on the iPhone or the HU, but I couldn't find one.

You can turn off the auto connection feature on the headunit, at least on the AVH-P4400 you can.

You can turn auto connect off, but it won't allow handsfree phone usage unless you manually connect again.

I saw that, but I actually want the units to auto-connect bluetooth, but not automatically start the music app.  I found that if I am using Tunein radio,  it will auto connect with that app.  That works for me.

Are those apps open in the background?  Mine only starts playing if I have the app open otherwise it does nothing. I use Pandora, TuneIn and I Heart.

Yep Smolz, they are open in the background.  Great point.  Thanks Much!  I find that if I just stop the Tunein program on the phone before I shut down the radio, the next time I start the car it will auto connect and restart the Tunein program that was on the last time.  That is just what I want.  Now I will stop the music app from running in background an that should solve my problem completely.

Man it is great to have the Pioneer running as it did before ios 6.

    Hi,

Is there any solution for Alpine car stereo that worked fine on AVRCP 1.3 ?
