Lost contacts and messages after iOS 6 update?

After updating to iOS 6, I lost all of my contacts, text messages and imessages. Is there any way to get them back?!

Here's what worked for me. I connected my phone to iTunes, then went to Info<Advanced. I had to click on "sync contacts with" at the top, then scrolled down to the bottom and clicked the box next to Contacts under "replace information on this iPhone".

This was after I tried syncing, turning off and on again, turning contacts on under iCloud etc. After I did the above I finally got my contacts back.

Hi all

Had same problem with Contacts. I regularly use iTunes so have gone into that. Click on 'Sync Contacts With' ... and I tried 'Windows' as 'Outlook' didnt work. Hey presto, all my contacts are back. Hope this helps. Text messages mind have completely disappeared. Devastated is a bit strong but just about how I'm feeling right now. 2 years worth of text messages, completely gone. Grrrr. Sort it out Apple!

Hi zoport88,

Roob11 is refering to menu items on your phone. So, open the Phone and go to Contacts (the middle icon at the bottom). Top left should be a button Groups. In there select All iCloud and a tick should appear next to it.

This brought back a bunch of missing contacts for me (like about half) but I have no idea why some of my conatcs are considered "iCloud" and others are not. Anyone have any ideas about that?

Hope that helped & got your missing things back.

Cheers,

Deb
