aperture 3.4 crashing

I (like others in this forum) are finding Aperture 3.4 crashing. The advice on other threads is to delete Aperture's plist. It is not in my Libary/Preferences folder (I assume because it was reinstalling). My crash report appears to be a bit different than others.

Looks like its a bad install, there is a missing required framework, PrintServices....guessing you did an upgrade as part of the install from a previous version of Aperture. Delete the app you have, and empty trash. Go back to the App Store and just reinstall the app, but this time it will be from scratch. Try this and report back if you have success.

I'm another person with the same issue. My question is - my original install being Aperture 2, Aperture 3 was an "upgrade version". Both are on CD. I assume I have to start from scratch, with Version 2, then install Version 3, then download 3.4 and install that.

Another question: I have several plug-ins from Nik Software (HDR Efex Pro 2, Silver Efex Pro 2, and Dfine 2), would I lose these apps upon the re-install?

Thank you.

Ok So i used the Delete the app and reinstall from my disk option. I ran into the problem that I couldnot open aperture with the older version of the app. I found two ways around this

1 move your aperture library ( Aperture Library.aplibrary ) to your desktop

2 hold option key while opening the older version to create a new library

either way once the current version of aperture is installed and opens properly just move you old Aperture Library.aplibrary back into your picture folder and overwrite the new library that you created

hope this helps some folks

good luck

Aaaahh!!! Success!!! I did the Version 2.0 install, followed by the Version 3 install (both from disk), then 3.4 from the App Store. All my plugins were there and worked as before.

Have to say this was one of the most frustrating installs I have ever done. A waste of the better part of the day.

I don't think I will be the "first one on the block" at the next upgrade. I think I'll wait a week or two!

Yes! I deleted the pref files and it's ok now.

But for how long? You will have to fix the prefs over and over again.

Deleting preferences in this case is only covering up the symptoms of a broken installation. Like taking pain killers instead of visiting the dentist when your teeth need a root canal treatment. I strongly urge you to reconsider and follow William Lloyds advice.
