iTunes Match not working since io6 upgrade

I upgraded my iPhone and iPad to iOS 6 and iTunes match does not work. Any picture shows a picture iCloud with an icon that is not moving or will show the names and album names but won't show any songs

Same here, are you guys using the iPhone 4 or 4S. On my 4 it doesn't seem to matter whether I turn Imatch on or off even. When I turn it off it still shows all artists etc. but the actual songs are not there. Right now I'm looking at the Icloud logo and it seems to be downloading something from the cloud but that's been going on for an hour now....Cupertino Fix it please!!

I have the same problem on iphone 4s. iTunes is totally broken. My ipad 2 is fine. No songs show up at all. Cloud with a sync bar that's empty. The download circle at the top is spinning but nothing is happening. I turned off match and I also had artist names & song names but all the songs had 0 minutes. I tried changing all sorts of settings to no avail. I also tried it over wifi and over 3G. Nothing. It just hangs. Worst upgrade yet.

Yep there is a lot of unhappiness about this and its so buggy. why is working on one device for people and then not the other? why does it work for some to turn match on and off and then it works- others it doesn't.

I'm attempting leaving the lock off all night and seeing if it will eventually update the whole lot. I have a large collection of around 15,000 songs and i fear this is the issue. my little wheel icon is just spinning and spinning.

this along with the terrible maps is upsetting from Apple. Its like they haven't tested things out properly before release. Don't even get me started on the Podcast app....

found a possible solution!

There are Two... yes TWO different places you can enable and disable itunes match.

First being inside Settings, iTunes

User uploaded file

Second inside Settings, Music.

I first turned off and on the iTunes one, then the Music one and flipped the switches for cellular data and show all music.

At first it showed the same cloud then a minute later it loaded and showed all my music as it should.

hope this helps. Cant imagine why there needs to be two switches for this.

I think those are actually the same switch, in two locations (to make it easier to find). If you turn it off in one location, then look in the other you'll see that it's off there as well.

Anyway, I was able to get iTunes Match mostly working again by doing the following:

1. Force the Music app to exit - double-tap the "home" button to bring up the recent apps, touch and hold the music app until it starts wiggling, then tap the "x"

2. Go to settings and turn iTunes Match off.

3. Wait at least a minute.

4. Turn iTunes Match on.

5. Wait at least 5 minutes - this is the important step, my theory is that iTunes Match just needs a little time to sync up before you try to use it.

6. Start up the Music app. You should see all your music now.

If you do step 6 before waiting long enough, I think the Music app reads a partial music library, and gets a bit confused. It would probably catch up at some point, but who knows how long that might take.

Many "smart" playlists still don't seem to be working properly, and they'll likely still be empty after you do this. There's an iTunes update coming out in October, I'm willing to bet that what we have right now is only the first 1/2 of an update, and when iTunes brings us the other half, the smart playlists will start working properly.

I had the problem and the only way to fix this was:

Attention, the iPhone will be erased, so make sure, your data is safely stored!

  1. Sync the iPhone/iPad with iTunes
  2. Right click on the iPhone in iTunes and choose "Back up".
Now the iPhone back up is updated.
  3. Disconnect the iPhone
  4. On the iPhone, go to settings->General->Reset->Content and settings
This will delete the entire iPhone, make sure, your Data is saved
  5. When the iPhone restarts input the phone code and SIM code (if used)
  6. Connect it to iTunes
  7. Choose the latest backup (from step 2)
  8. Let iTunes do the work
  9. After everything is done, the iPhone should be exactly in the state of point 2
  10. Activate iTunes Match and start the music app
  11. Wait a few minutes (it takes some time before the library starts updating) when the screen shows the cloud picture
  12. The music should be back.

This worked for all of my devices, and as a psitive effect, the iPhone has some gigabytes more free space, maybe this is because of some orphaned files, that caused the trouble with the music app.

A simple "restore phone" in iTunes didn't help, it seems to be neccessary to delete the iPhone completely and then restore from back up.
