Auto-Lock is not consistently turning of my screen.
It's a hit or miss.
Anyone else?

Nope. Resart, Reset phone, Restore using backup, Restore as new.
I have same problem. Sometimes Auto lock doesnt work 😟 . Restart, Restored already 😀
If auto lock can't work, screen will be on all the time until iphone's battery drains. This bug is very serious. Hopefully Apple can fix it ASAP.
Not a bug in the iOS and don't wait for a "fix" from Apple. Fix the problem in your phone as already described. If you have to, restore as new.
I ve restored AS NEW and nothin s changed 🙂. Its a bug; compare to 5.1.1
If a "bug", what about the many millions who updated and DON'T have the problem....See this:
Dear all,
This error appears only when my extended mode "AssistiveTOuch".When my off mode "AssistiveTOuch", this error no longer
modular747,
how sure are you that this is not a bug? maybe some user didn't get this problem because they never turn on the Assistive Touch...
I think you are correct. But "AssistiveTOuch" is very useful for me. For now, I can only lock manually. It should be easy for Apple to fix it. Let's wait for the new version.
I am having the same issue and I use assitive touch,it is so much faster to mutiltask. But I see the logic about not turing off the screen if assistive touch is on.Assistive touch is meant for people with disabilties, who cannot use the home button. If it goes to sleep, you then have to hit the home button to wake up,and that maybe hard or impossible for some people.
Just to follow up. It does work with assistive touch, the screen does turn off ! So maybe it some particular apps that keeps the screen on.
I use assitive touch as well but not because I need assistance. Some things I just find quicker to do by using it.
Since updating my iPhone 4 (not S) to iOS 6 yesterday (OTA), I'm also experiencing Auto-Lock not working 100% of the time. I've always had the auto-lock time set to it's 2 minute default and under 5.1.1, it has *always* auto-locked. Then today, I put the phone down for about 30 minutes after a brief use. I came back to the phone to find the screen still on with the battery level dropped as well cause of it. I had NO additional apps running...
I am experimenting now and it *seems* that if auto-lock is set to 1 minute, it will auto-lock correctly. It may be that the 2 minute setting is what's causing the issue. As I said, I'm still testing this, again with no additional apps running in my testing...stay tuned.
Same here
iPhone 4S and iPad2 with iOS6
Hint - this problem only occurs when your i'Device is on idle and HomeScreen appears (WiFi mode - on/off sometimes matter too)
This is software bug
Temporary fix is to lock screen manually (via Assistive Touch) or to switch on other app for example Phone or turn-off Assistive Touch permanently
Waiting for iOS 6.01....
Well, after changing the auto-lock setting to 1 minute, it auto-locked every time (I tested 6 times). I then changed the auto-lock setting back to 2 minutes and it now seems as though it's auto-locking correctly at the 2 minute mark. But as I mentioned, this is the setting where it did not auto-lock previously. It's too inconsistent and I can't figure out a pattern. I think I'll just leave it at one minute for a a few hours or so and keep my eye on it.
Another thing that may be causing the oddness is that I also frequently lock the screen using the Assistive Touch panel...just another variable to add to the mix I guess. 😐
Set your phone at "Home Screen" and then check again (with AssistiveTouch)
If you set phone on other app, autolock will work fine
