The same here, deleted all songs on my iPhone, did not solve the problem. Same happens on my iPad... Not the first time this happens after an IOS update 😟 Great 😟
I'm also having the same problem. The artwork is showing when I go into the album or specific track, but it no longer shows in the album list. I am running a 32GB iPhone 4.
OK - Here is the fix if you are NOT using iTunes Match:
Delete all of your iTunes music from your iPad/device. The simple process is to uncheck Sync Music in iTunes on your computer. If you have some audio books either downloaded from iTunes or ripped from a CD, you may have to delete them from your iPad manually. Go to iPad/device Settings > General > Usage > Storage/Music. It may take a moment to come up as the OS seems to be calculating the amount of data that is being used by apps/files. Click on music and you will have to delete each one manually. Some devices may allow you to delete the entire music library all at once: http://osxdaily.com/2012/02/18/remove-all-music-from-iphone-ipod-touch-ipad/
Once this is done, check Sync Music in iTunes on your computer or if you select your music manually then do that. Most if not all of the album artwork will come back. Check your device for missing artwork. Once you know what they are, find the artwork you want to use online or if it exists on your computer use that. Save them in a file you can locate easily. Go back to iTunes on your computer select the artist/album that is missing on your device, you may find that the album art is already there, ignore it. At this point I would suggest using the cover flow with the list of artists/albums underneath. Highlight the entire album, right click, select get info, in the right corner you will see album artwork. Double click this and it will automatically bring up finder. Select the proper album cover for the artist and save. This will change the art work to your saved file. Do this until you are done, blue in the face, torn most of your hair out or until you are satisfied. Sync your music again and that should work.
I'd like to personally thank apple for making me waste my time....
Hope this works! My artwork is back and looks great.
What I discovered having tried almost everything including the above was that it was all the mp3 files that weren't showing the artwork whilst AAC were fine. Converting any problem mp3's to aac solved the problem. Now when I transfer my music from itunes on my PC to my new iPad, artwork shows everytime. Happy days. 🙂 This issue also existed before the update on my new iPad.
Thanks FrankC869, I had the same problem ("The artwork is showing when I go into the album or specific track as well as in cover flow, but it no longer shows in the album list") and this resolved it for me.
Easy answer go to settings then usage delete your music. Then if you have icloud this is much easier just go to itunes and download all purchased music. You will get all your album art back. If you dont have icloud you will have to plug your phone or pad/pod into your computer and sync music back to device through itunes the old fashion way. Either way you roll the art will come back.
