Importing a targa image sequence ?

It should become selectable (ungrayed) once you select a file. You can select any file in the sequence and it will import the whole sequence.

You can also do it via the File Browser.

Navigate to the directory with your .tga files in it and be sure you have the Show Image Sequences as Collapsed button highlighted. (it's on the the lower right of the File Browser next to the Make New Folder icon.)

How long is the sequence? In the File Browser, the preview needs to get built (after you hit play... it won't start playing back on it's own) and if the sequence is long, it may take a while to start.

hrmmm ive tried both... i have 69 tga files in a sequence. Cinepaint loads this sequence in like 6 seconds so I would think it will take that long..

Even when I wait and click play... nothing.. this is baffling.

things to try

can you import any of the .tga files singularly?
-if not, then that's likely the problem, (where did the tga files come from?)

how are they named?
-if they can be imported singularly, what's the padding of the sequence? ie: filename.####.tga

I can import each one individually..

I exported from final cut pro using quicktime conversion.. I created a sequence of jpg's this time to see what happens..

Not sure what the source of your problem is, but you can always go into QuickTime Player (pro) and select Open Image Sequence..., then save the result out and load that movie in...

I believe the issue is with the padding (or to put it another way, Motion's inability to deal with that particular padding).

I rendered out an image sequence from QT with your exact file padding and reproduced your issue.

I then used a renamer to remove the space and add an additional 0 and Motion could import it.

Doesn't really give us a why, but at least a little sanity...

Found this in the Motion Docs.

Important: Any imported image sequence must contain three or more digits of
padding, for example, imagename.0001.tif.
