iOS6 and bluetooth compatible car stereos.

I updated to iOS6 last night. I have a bluetooth compatible car stereo that allows me to play music from my iPhone to my stereo and also allows me to make and receive phone calls, all through the stereo - prior to the update I had full control to skip tracks using either my steering wheel controls or buttons on my car stereo, however now I can only change tracks via my phone, which defeats the whole object of my stereo... can anyone help?
