Q: Once we receive access to these @iCloud.com addresses, will we be able to delete the equivalent @me.com address and just use @iCloud.com instead?

I don't want to have multiple email addresses for the same account. I would prefer just to be able to use @iCloud.com and that's it.

    I doubt you'll be able to actually delete the address. The @icloud.com address will deliver into the same inbox; just stop giving people the @me.com version. If you want to block mail to that address just set up a rule moving it to the Trash or another folder.

    Here is the magic question however:

     

    Can I just start using @icloud.com instead of @me.com whenever this happens? That is, can I use @icloud.com for my icloud account, my app store account, etc? Or will the @icloud.com become a "new" account (which seems unlikely).

    The @icloud.com address will be added to your account: both will work, and you can use it to log into various places where you are now using the @me.com one. The addresses are being rolled out over an unspecified period: you will get one without having to do anything. You will get a notification email when your account is updated.
