Why does Apple uses name " Jane Appleseed " everywhere ? Is it just like that or it has some sort of significance ?

Just a take-off on Johnny Appleseed...legendary character who went around planting appleseeds resulting in apple trees all over the countryside.
Apple actually uses John Appleseed in their demos. Even today. The legend is not related to Johnny Appleseed (the missionary and pioneer) at all. Rather, it was a random alias Mike Markkula (second CEO of Apple) used in his software tests and debugging sessions. He worked on projects related to the Apple II in 1980's.
I know about Johnny Appleseed but I am not sure whether the name refers to same person so wanted to confirm . Thanks a lot
